Traveling to Europe: Any Tips?

Oneshot

Goes For Three
This spring break I'm headed to Europe: Berlin, Prague, Vienna.

I'm there for 1 week - my girlfriend and I have already booked the hostels. Any tips on awesome things to do??

First on the list: What the hell does real Absinthe taste like?

Bring a Passport.

I've only visited Paris and Amsterdam so I can't help you much with where you're going. One piece of advice, remember you're not in the United States. You're a guest in someone else's country.

I saw a few American idiots on my travels. Two of them were making asses out of themselves because they had to ask for ketchup and were given mayonnaise with their fries in Amsterdam. Seriously, they threw a fit because the entire world wasn't just like Pittsburgh. :shake:

Respect the culture of the other countries.
Don't fly through Heathrow unless you have to, you'll never make your connecting flight unless you have a huge time gap.
Enjoy.

Licorice, if you like that kinda thing. I enjoyed their brew assortment and a few cognacs.

Oh my! You mean like the one in Hostel II! No way would I stay in those regardless! I know it was just a movie..... but yipes!:paranoid:

No, no. Nothing like that. The Bratislava women love the American men long time. That was just movie, not like that in real life. Go to Bratislava. Thank me later. :sneaky:

In Prague, Pilsner Urquell was cheaper than Coca-Cola when I was there a few years ago, so that was an easy choice.

When you're over there, be careful of pickpockets, especially in tourist areas of Prague. I wasn't a victim, but I saw people that were.

Read guidebooks before you go, and decide how much time you want to spend on things like museums. There are some great museums in Berlin, but they're not all for everybody. The former Reichstag is now a museum, that one was interesting and didn't take several hours to see.

There's a museum at Checkpoint Charlie which was interesting - it tells stories of how people crossed illegally from East to West Berlin. Link

If you plan on going to museums, check for their hours ahead of time, some are closed on certain days, and some will have discounts at times.

Guidebooks and the Internet will also give you good ideas for restaurants before you go. You can match up places to your tastes and budget.
