Troy's Heisman Worthy Stats

timBUCK2

Tim the Enchanter... WOLVERINE SLAYER!!
I'm putting together a "Troy Smith for Heisman" video, and I could use a little help from you stat gurus. Basically, I want to show 10-15 statistics that best demonstrate why TS should win the Heisman.

Here's the format that I'll use in the video:

Number
2-4 words explaining the stat

For example:

22/2
TDs to Ints

23
Passing/Rushing TDs

67.8
Completion %

#1
All-time B10
Career Efficiency

#1
Ranked Team

Thanks for your help!!!

to go along with the #1 all time Big Ten passing efficiency leader you could put #3 passer efficiency rating in the country or whatever he happens to be this year

edit: ooh ooh! and his record as a starter haha

edit: which is 22-2 as seen in BB73's post below

The Heisman is a career achievement award, so you may as well use his career stats:

http://web1.ncaa.org/d1mfb/playerDetail.jsp?yr=2006&org=518&player=10

6209 total yards
60 total TDs
46:9 TD:INT
160.9 career passer rating (#2 behind Alex Smith in the career bracket of 325-399 completions, #7 overall for all D1A brackets in the NCAA record book)
22-2 as a starter

These are excerpts from the official site's press release today, for the Illinois game. I like the lowest career interception stat, but that number will change after each game.

official.site

With his 18-yard touchdown pass against Minnesota, Ohio State senior signal caller Troy Smith has thrown at least one TD pass in 11 consecutive games. Smith now has 22 touchdown passes on the year, six more than he had all of last season, and seven shy of Bobby Hoying's school record 29 in 1995. He has 14 touchdown passes in the last five games and has thrown two or more touchdowns in seven of the Buckeyes' first nine games.

Smith, who completed 14 of 21 passes against Minnesota, has not thrown an interception in his last 120 passes. Earlier in the season he had a string of 152 passes without an interception.

Smith has the lowest career interception rate in the nation among active quarterbacks with a fanciful 1.57 figure. Just nine of his 573 passes have been picked off.

Additionally, Smith leads the Big Ten and is fourth nationally in passing efficiency with a mark of 174.3.

Smith, who is now 22-2 as a starter

Quarterback Troy Smith is the all-time completion percentage leader in Ohio State history, connecting on 63.1 percent of his passes (362-573).

That's totally OK! Due to the nature of the video (and my hope that voters may see it), I'm planning to just use point-in-time stats anyway.

Could release it two different ways.

1) before the scUM game as a heads up to Michiganders as to whats in store for them on the 18th of November.

2) after we beat scUM/before the heisman voting. that way you can include scum statistics(and hopefully HIGHLIGHTS)

Are you going to include highlights from 04/05 in this video btw?

I would agree that the post wouldn't do alot of good after the bowl game. However, I think it would be better fitting after the scUM game.

The single greatiest stat Troy has as a Buckeye is his record..or possible record against the punks up north. Don't get me wrong, He's one of the best college QB's I've seen in a long time and I think he will continue to grow and be an elite player at the next level.

But lets think about this. Troy has an EXTREMLY good chance to have the best record against the football program with the best record in all of college football. He has the chance to be, if there was one, an "MVP" in the single BIGGIEST game not only in football but all of sports. Playing at the level Troys played in the tOSU vs scUM game would almost be the equvilent of saying "Hes a 3 straight Super Bowl MVP"

I know the Super Bowl MVP thing is alittle far fetched...I guess what Im trying to say is that the guys leadership is far beyound any "number" stat could truly show, other than his possible 3-0 record against that "other" team.

Have a good one guys!

Answered my own question :)

TS starting vs Top 25 = 9/1
