ttun basketball (Juwan out, Dusty May in)

so help me if ttun hires porter moser, i'll have to wear diapers because i won't be able to control myself. he may be the most meh among all meh hires. the absolute worst hire that ttun should make is yaklich, which would be fine if not good.

in a perfect world, ttun hires moser and moser doesn't retain yaklich.

edit: that's assuming that beilein isn't taking yaklich with him... which would be glorious.
Who do you think should they hire, to help themselves the most? It is a less than optimal time to search for a new coach for sure.

i don't know whom they should hire because i don't know whom they can hire, but i think anyone worse than yaklich would be a (big) mistake. he's the standard. i'd consider moser to be a worse hire. this is assuming that yaklich is a half-decent recruiter.

one thing is for sure: porter moser is a very hard sell to the skunkbear fanbase, especially if moser doesn't retain yaklich. program interest would plummet.

moreover, there is little reason to think that yaklich would pass on the head coaching job. beilein may want to bring him along, but the cavs won't come close to matching yaklich's salary as head coach of ttun. and i have to imagine that being the head coach of ttun would be a much bigger coup for yaklich than being an nba assistant.

a sensible recruiting search would be chasing after dreams like donovan and beard before promoting yaklich.

So... I have zero evidence or even hints other than my own brain. But I was thinking why would he do that? Is the money that different? The cavs arent winning anything in the near future.

What if he knows his name is attached to the cheating scandal and he just bailed before it leaked?

Beilein has run a clean program (so far as we know, or as clean as a college coach can be). While I'll never "like" a scUM coach, he does seem like a decent man. The popular theory is that he was just fed up with the corruption of the college game.

CBS College Basketball podcast had an interesting perspective on Beilein's decision. The idea is that coaching high school and NBA is pure basketball; coaching college has more to do with dealing with street agents, runners, boosters, professors, PR and other crap.
I’d seriously question the cleanliness of high school football and basketball. Transfers to coaches and teams are hardly innocent - thinking right now of. St. X kid who will suit up for Princeton so that he can graduate in January - and that’s peanuts compared to what goes on with AAU ball.

I really don't think Donovan is a complete pipe dream, but I guess I don't know how much scUM is willing to pay. They'd probably have to pay something close to what they're paying Harbaugh per year. Are they willing to pay that much for their basketball coach?

And in the long run they might be better off promoting Yaklich or trying to steal White away from Florida.
