ttun News (2016 version)

I'd argue Ash probably walked into a worse situation than Herman. I hope they give him a few years to figure it out.

I think he made a bad decision about which job to take.

Rutgers is a graveyard. They've been talking about keeping Jersey kids from leaving since I started following football. Haven't done it yet.

Yeah, an absolutely awful decision. That program is a looooong way from what Schiano built. And I doubt they give him the time Schiano was afforded in today's climate.

Steak house in Michigan offering half-off steaks following dismantling of Rutgers

Ruth’s Chris Steak House in Ann Arbor
was offering a discount on steak dinners on a sliding scale according to Michigan’s margin of victory against Rutgers Saturday night (the promotion runs through the end of the season as well). One percentage off the meal’s bill will be taken off for each point Michigan defeats their opponent by. For example, a 14-point victory would mean customers would get 14 percent off their next bill.

Michigan won 78-0 on Saturday night, but diners to be should not get too excited about a possible 78 percent off steak dinner. The promotion is capped at 50 percent. Regardless, that sounds like a pretty sweet and juicy deal to sink your teeth into.

The same issue with taking the Maryland job, both continuous dumpster fires. I questioned Ash leaving Rutgers from the start. He'll have a very rough go of it, because the entire B1G and ACC poach NJ players. I understand wanting a HC gig, but there could've been better opportunities if he had waited. Ah well...

Like, say, Texas, Oklahoma, Notre Dame, Oregon...

It's easy to argue this. Herman has the recruiting grounds of Texas to work with. Ash....? Not so much.
NJ has talent, let's not get that confused. Schiano made it work there, and Ped St(among other schools) has made their name off of NJ recruits. Its just that Rutgers have never won much of anything so its hard to keep kids home.

I doubt Ash would've been looked at as a first time HC at any of those schools. Now if Petrino were to leave or Oregon opened up, I could see either of those being better options than Rutgers.
