Warriner coaching the OL would be an immediate upgrade. How much, we don't know. Not to diminish the job he did with the slobs, but I think a portion of that O-line's success was that it operated in Herman's dynamic scheme. As of right now, scUM replaced Drevno/Hamilton as OC with some combination of Hamilton/McElwain/Warriner. None of those guys would qualify as "dynamic." Add in the fact that the tOSU OL is still operating at a pretty high level under Stud, and just maybe Warriner wasn't the guru we all thought.

Well, he didn't exactly set the run game ablaze up in Gopher-land as O-Line coach and run game coordinator. Actually Minnesota's run game was slightly worse in 17 than it was in 16

Nick Bosa responds to Maurice Hurst calling pair of Michigan DEs nation’s best

The battle to be the Big Ten’s — and the nation’s — top defensive end in 2018 has already began on social media.

Earlier in the week, former Michigan defensive tackle Maurice Hurst Jr. re-tweeted a photo of Rashan Gary and Chase Winovich, calling them the “best two D-Ends in the country this upcoming season!”

Hurst, a projected first-round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, had an outstanding 2017 season with 13.5 tackles for loss and 5 sacks during the regular season. But Hurst missed out on the honor of 2017 Big Ten Defensive Lineman of the Year.

Instead, Ohio State defensive end Nick Bosa won that honor. Bosa also saw Hurst’s tweet. The Buckeyes defensive end responded to Hurst, just tweeting “swear.”

With the way we have been churning em out, we may have the best 4 defensive ends in the country.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Big_Ten_Conference_football_champions

I realized a week or so ago that Michigan has now gone 13 seasons without a Big Ten championship. How does that compare with their history?

I looked into and, and saw that they also went 1951 through 1963 without a championship. They won it in 1964, and again in 1969. One more season without a championship and they will have the longest streak in their history without a conference championship.

Ohio State's longest streak is 14 seasons, beginning in 1921 and ending in 1934 (they won the championship in 1920 and 1935). Since 1951 (when Woody Hayes started), Ohio State's longest streak of non-championship seasons is 6. They won in 1961 and again in 1968, going 1962-1967 without championships. And again they won in 1986 and in 1993, missing championships in 1987-1992.

Other interesting facts:
Chicago won the championship in 1924, and then went 22 seasons without winning it. Then they quit football. Ha!
Indiana and Minnesota are each currently on 50-season streaks without a championship.
Northwestern ended a 58-year drought when they won it in 1995.
No team that joined the conference after Penn State has won a championship. All teams that joined before Penn State (including Penn State) has won at least one championship.

I had to count shared championships for this. I would like to consider only one champion when 2 teams finish with identical records, but one team beat the other. But I wasn't going to go back through all the history of the Big Ten to figure out who gets the real championship when two teams got co-championship. Also, 2010 happened. I "gave" that co-championship to Ohio State.
