There's a guy over on the UW board, ryebadger, who really does not like Michigan at all. A sampling from this week:

Obviously, you are unaware that their running back was a 5 star, the only stat that matters on Mgoblog. if you spent more time there, you'd know to multiply the yards by the number of stars then divide the number of carries by the number of stars to get his MARHA (Mgoblog adjusted recruiting hype average). In reality he ran for like 500 yards on on under 6 carries. MARHA is the magical elixir that lets them forget you could peruse their roster of 4-5 star running back recruits over the last decade or more and not find one who would have started for Wisconsin.

Edit: Lest you doubt MARHA's efficacy, I refer you to an Mgoblog analysis of UW's offensive line a few years ago. Applying MARHA, they concluded UW's offensive line was entering a period of steep decline, driven primarily by the fact that a 2-star transfer was starting. A 2-star! Obviously, MARHA nailed it, based on the dearth of UW O-linemen on NFL rosters, Jonathan Taylor's paltry rushing stats and that the 2-star in question, Ryan Ramczyk, couldn't cut it in big time football.

----------------------------

They are well past that in the weekly cycle. Army and MTSU were quirky games that should have been blowouts if not for this handful of plays. So being unimpressive against huge underdogs isn't telling. Wisconsin has played the worst 2 teams in all of college football. So blowing out two underdogs isn't telling. They have way, way more talent than UW, way better coaching than UW, Don Brown knows how to shut down Taylor and Wisconsin's offense and speed in space with their elite athletes is ready to round into form. They would have won on their last trip to Camp Randall if their QB didn't get hurt, plus they are a way better team than they were then. Last year in Ann Arbor is more indicative of what we'll see this Saturday, because Wisconsin is probably about the same.

It's like the ultimate safe space for grand scale delusion. One can maintain the fantasy they are as talented as Alabama without getting laughed at like they would anywhere else in the world. At the same time, they never have to confront pesky truths, like owning one shared national title since the 1940s, not winning a Big Ten championship since 2004, and having a worse overall record than Wisconsin during the last 20 years. Or 10 years. Or 5 years.

Invite him over. We’ll cover the $77.95 for both you and him.

When they go into that game, that’s that old-school, 1960s football, Friday Night Lights in Texas – that’s the atmosphere. That’s what they bring to the table when they play us. You can feel it on them. You can almost smell the hate when you play against them. That’s not the way you approach that game. I know it’s cliche to say you approach every team like you approach any other team. That’s B.S. You approach certain teams differently. We got to start approaching that game from the standpoint that they do. I feel like when we go into that game, you’re looking at two different preparation systems

Hate?

I’d say something cheesy like,”That’s the smell your mom left on us last night”, but the truth is it’s the smell of victory.

I'm pretty sure the harbrau approaches the game the same way we do... we're just better than them.
Yeah....Tressel's approach worked because those dumbfucks were somehow tired of always beating us. Them just finally copying Tressel after 20 fucking years isn't enough to overcome the talent gap + still doing it the Tressel way. Maybe in another 20 years we'll show some apathy towards them. I fucking doubt it.....but it's pretty much they best they can hope for.

Only two ways to beat your rival. First is have better players second is have the infamous schematic advantage.

Despite what the DFBIA thinks, Jimmy hasn't closed the talent gap and he damn sure isn't the kind of coach that will beat you with a less talented team.

Just as OSU has figured out the only way to stay in the CFB superpower race with Bama et al is by putting forth a consistent top 5 recruiting effort, so must tsun if they ever want to get into that club (I won't say back into that club because that would be incorrect). Ok, so they want to build a top 5 class caliber recruiting machine, what do they do? Let's go 3 star army with a national scope. Let's ignore our own state (for the one period of time in it's history where it's turning out a lot of top tier talent) and, oh by the way, let's ignore Ohio as well. We will make up for it with the top kid from Rhode Island and some hun cocksucker we found on our last spring vacation.

It's a faulty strategy and the irony is, the only one who had the good sense to try and recruit Ohio again was the much maligned Brady Hoke. The same guy who actually beat OSU once. The same guy who has their only major Bowl win in nearly 20 years.

Tressel turned off the spicket of Ohio HS talent, more or less, in 2001. Tsun, to date, has not only failed to recover, it doesn't appear they even recognize the issue.

I cannot wait until we pass them in all-time wins.....

This x quadruple Script Ohio

There was a time when I didn't just believe, I knew, that Cooper had forever destroyed Ohio State's chances of going over .500 in The Game in my lifetime.

Then we went on a tear that neither team has seen in 100 years, not since the Buckeyes' first victory.

But for it to happen, we have to keep hating, no matter how much they suck.
