Anthony Cook (DB Texas Longhorns)

It seems crazy that none of these guys are even considering Alabama. I think, unless their class is 35, their run of recruiting titles is over.
never underestimate the power of Bama... plus these early rankings can change... they could drop from 5* to 4* and visa versa

Anthony would be a perfect fit for our scheme. Kills on an island 1v1. Lock down corner with instincts and serious hitting ability.

Really excited to see that we're going to be a major player for him going forward, especially with Bama off the board early

Bama was never the major player to get him, its always been LSU. Houston is a hot bed for LSU, its a short distance with top rate talent

Surprised only 2 pages on this kid who is starting to be favored to the good guys! LSU and UT insiders have Cook picking OSU now... :sneaky:

This kid is simply just a lock down, leave on an island pure cover CB! Getting him would allow the staff to have Banks as a project(crazy to think of him as that, but he's raw compared to the other OSU CBs) DB. Banks is a pure CB, and could keep the conveyor line of CBs going for Coombs

That's pretty freaking huge but I'll believe it when I see it.

I agree with you there, but I honestly haven't a site, or heard on analyst not have OSU at least in his top 2(alternating between LSU and Texas). And I'm sure Anthony and his family not only have seen how well CBs have developed, but noticed in the NFL draft the past few years, the millions they're now earning.
I'm being cautiously optimistic like you, but we're sitting a great spot.

Agreed. Many of the crystal ball selections were made or flipped within the last week or so, including the LSU and UT insider. It'll be tough to pull him out of Texas but we are in great shape right now.

Considering the last class, this cycle should only have 4 DBs IMO.

With 3 really good ones in the mix I'd love to see the staff just tell Cook that he's good enough for them to be comfortable shutting down after his commitment. "You are our guy and then we are shutting it down for this class"

The last class is the entirety of the depth behind the top two starters. One of those guys could be Sheffield, and he and Ward could both turn pro.

That would leave them with

Arnette, Ward, Williamson, Riep, Okudah and 2018 signees. And at least two of those guys may be safeties.

They need 3 corner capable guys in this class in my Imo

We lose Smith and Webb to graduation after this year and possibly Ward and Sheffield to the NFL. I could see this class getting as many as 5-6 especially with Coombs wanting to use a rotation.
