Ty to Wash = OSU Title?

Hollywood

Newbie
With Ty going to Washington and giving Pete a little more competition out west, not only will it be another tough game on USC's schedule in the future but Ty may be able to steal a few recruits from Petie and give everyone else in the country a better chance to play in the title game and even out the recruiting game.

Whew, I thought this thread was going to argue that Willingham to Udub meant a title for OSU because OSU won a title the last time Willingham took a new job (2002 Ty to ND)
Sadly, I think that argument carries more weight than the idea of Willingham taking down Southern Cal for us.

I've heard it said that Willingham does not believe in criticizing his players or focusing on their negatives...ever. Instead, he buys into a BS philosophy that you only emphasize the positives and coach/teach from it.

If this is true, it explains why Willingham might be a great person, but will never be anything more than an average coach.

buckeyegrad - I would find it hard to believe that this was his complete philosophy and that he never offers constructive criticism to his players. I don't know how he could have the modest success that he has had without offering constructive criticism. While I tend to coach from the positives approach, and I do not think it is complete BS, there is also constructive criticism in my approach. There simply has to be. For me, the key is being constructive. I'm sure that we have all had a coach that simply yelled at us, belittled us, when a mistake was made, yet forgot the important part of correcting what was being done incorrectly, that is, coaching/teaching.

willingham at stanford:

1995: 7-4-1
1996: 7-5-0
1997: 5-6-0
1998: 3-8-0
1999: 8-4-0
2000: 5-6-0
2001: 9-3-0

at ND:

2002: 10-3-0
2003: 5-7-0
2004: 6-5-0

inconsistancy at its finest.
