Portsmouth OH native (via IMG Academy) Tyler Gerald has submitted his signed his letter of intent (LOI) to attend the Ohio State University. This is a bit of a formality since Tyler has been enrolled at Ohio State since January 11th. The 6’5″, 300 lb guard is rated as 4-star by 247sports and was the #7 nationally ranked player at his position. He was recruited by Ed Warinner.

There is a need for depth on the offensive line with the departures of Jacoby Boren, Taylor Decker and Chase Farris. With Billy Price returning at guard, the new “face” penciled in at left guard is R-Fr Matthew Burrell and R-So Demetrius Knox assumed to be his backup, per With this much youth at one position, it’s possible that Tyler can crack the 2-deep. Other than Pat Elflein, this is a young group of offensive linemen. I guess it depends on how everyone progresses under new offensive line coach Greg Studrawa. Regardless, Tyler brings some intensity and athleticism to this unit. I’m glad that he’s one of “us”.
