U.S. Men's National Soccer (Official Thread)

For all of you guys that know this team much better than I, is it actually possible to get the Top 11 guys on the pitch at the same time for this team?

Turner, Pulisic, Robinson. For me that's 3 levels and the best at each level on this team. How do they get the next 8 out there and field the absolute best we've got?

Well, McKennie needs to stop trying to derail his career harder than Freddie Adu first. And I think Zimmerman would honestly probably be better than Brooks starting opposite Miles Robinson. Dest being healthy next month, along with Antonee Robinson round out the best back line available currently.

Steffen
Dest- M. Robinson- Zimmerman- A. Robinson
Adams- McKennie
Konrad- Reyna- Pulisic
Pepi

Give me that lineup for the next wave of games, and goals will be scored. Just need everyone back healthy.

No doubt Steffen's experience with Man City trumps the NE experience for Turner, but odd you'd replace Turner at the moment. Guess I'd like to see Steffen in the net a bit more. Forgot about the Barca super Della Fuente. Geesh are there some US studs playing around the world now or what.

I like the lineup TooTall. I could see that happening and be happy with it. Could also see McKenzie in the back as well with his play lately. Completely took away his area tonight. Let's hope the brass see's it your way also

Turner’s been playing well right now, for sure. Steffen just has a lot of history with Berhalter, and think the starting job is his when he’s healthy. But I wouldn’t be surprised to see Turner continue to get playing time either.

And it really is amazing how much better the player pool has gotten in the last 4 years. Konrad is now with Marseille, but I believe he’s getting consistent first team minutes with them now. And I wouldn’t mind seeing Yunus Musah getting a call up at some point during these qualifiers either. He’s currently playing for Valencia in Spain.

Also have to think it’s only a matter of time until a big club comes calling for Ricardo Pepi. Feel like he’d find a lot of success in Spain or Germany. Dortmund loves their American players so that’s my vote.

I think Musah has an ankle, so he might not be as fit as you'd like (at the moment).

I want to be clear this is no knock on Ricardo Pepi, he's 18, he's doing just fine, but there still remains that question of what we want out of the 9 and who to do it? That we're relying on an 18 year old at this point is probably not good (just as much as it would have been to rely on the kind of 9 Dike is).

I kinda fell asleep after Pepis goal, its been a long week. I was glad to see they hung on. (All Hail Lletgett!)

Kind of background watching the rest today, the subs did as much as getting some other guys back in position.

You know, the knock on Berhalter at first was, he's gonna run his system instead of using the players he has the best way that suits them.... now, the "system" seems largely abandoned and he's fitting formations to the players and there ends up being an identity crisis...

For me, you can riff a lot of themes off a 4-3-3, so, why don't we just do that? I mean, you can still play 3 CB type guys if you want (I wouldn't but you could).... but there's no reason to make Tyler Adams whatever it is he was trying to be in the first half, if you want to call that a wingback. This 3-4-3 is dumb, as much as I can see the why, I also see guys that look lost most of the time in it... And I mean, you get a Robinson goal and a Yedlin Assist out of it once you switch back... I mean, will those guys and Dest get caught forward sometimes? Sure, but that's what Adams is for, to destroy counter attacks.

I won't talk about the McKennie thing more than it needs to be, and i understand folks have preferences about certain positions but I don't think anyone is sitting home being like, well, you know, we're a lot better without McKennie, Reyna and Pulisic fully available... so, I'm not sure there's any reason to have a bunch of glee about 5 points even with them out, but I'd say the kids (all things relative to experience) stepped up and averted catastrophe.

Behind the scenes look at what actually happens in locker rooms when you’re down. Cool video of what a road CONCACAF win involves.

Good adjustments and credit to the subs on the effort/energy.

Possibly the moment I enjoyed the most on that video (I didn't see it live and if the Spanish speaking announcers mentioned it I missed it, primarily because I don't speak Spanish) was Pulisic hopping down the line on one foot to congratulate Pepi on the second goal. Superstar, gave it everything he had until the injury wouldn't let him go anymore, making sure he congratulated the kid (even though Pulisic isn't much more than a kid himself).
