looks like Roddick is gonna bail out in the 2nd rd....again. He's down 6-3, and down a break in the 2nd, these are the types of matches Roddick never wins. He doesn't have that extra gear.

Roddick survives in 4 sets. 3-6, 7-5, 6-2, 7-5

lol, so much for that prediction. First time i've seen a fight back from Roddick. Gulbis helped out a lot with his 80 something unforced errors. But was actually impressed with how Roddick played after getting that break in the 2nd set.

Djokovic lays into the crowd after beating the [censored]ant Roddick. :slappy:

He back-tracked later, which was actually kind of disappointing. I was hoping to see some personalities arise on tour, some fire, something. Borg/Federer/Lendl is great and all, as long as there is McEnroe/Connors/Nastase/Becker to liven things up. Federer/Nadal is so infinitely boring anymore (though they do play great matches) that it makes the rest of the tournament almost not worth watching. As for Roddick, he chokes more than Dubya with a bag full of Rold Golds.

Djokovic is a bitch. All of the players on the tour are already sick of his antics. After every point he loses he whines to his box like a junior.

Murray-Del Potro had a chance but they almost made out after their match Wednesday. This is from Rome in May.

"You know, he's allowed to do that."

I actually thought Roddick played a fairly good match, in a certain sense. Generally, if he gets behind, he's done trying. It seemed like he actually had some fight last night, but Djokovic was just too much for him. Andy needs to find a strategy to beat players who are willing to just block his serve back. (See: Federer, Roger)

he played great in the 3rd set and most of the 4th, unfortunately he choked like he always does. He needs to find a different strategy. I couldn't believe some of the shots he was attempting to hit. Does he know how to hit a lob?? On more than one occasion i noticed when Novak was at the net, it seemed Roddick just hit it right back to him. While I know of at least twice Novak was able to hit a winner off a top spin lob when Roddick was at the net.

And that shot that pissed me off the most was when Roddick tried to hit a drop shot at 5-5 in the tiebreak. Djokovic was going to get there and put the ball away even if that went over.

Greenies to anyone who can find a video of Roddick's interview about Djokovic. (Sadly, I missed it live)

The US Open 2008 - Grand Slam Tennis - Official Site by IBM

The video of Roddick's interview prior to the Djokovic match.

His tongue in cheek commentary about Djokovic's exagerated injury status begin about the 5 minute mark.
The interviewer seems to do as much provoking of the ailments as Roddick. Bird Flu, from Asia, SARS. Anthrax etc.
The playful history between Andy and Novak is delightful.
Sadly Novak missed the Djok.

With the PA system blaring the old hit song "You're Still the One!" Roger Federer thrilled the Flushing Meadows crowd with a straight set victory in the finals over Brit Andy Murray.
Murray has had a good run recently including a victory in Cincinnati and an upset of Rafael Nadal in the US Open semis.
Congratulations Roger, you're a classy guy and great five time US Open Champion!
