Game Thread UAB Blazers at tOSU - Sep 22, Noon ET, BTN

First, props to UAB for a great game plan and execution of that plan.

Second, very disappointing performance on both sides of the ball for tOSU.

Missed tackles and bad angles continue to occur on Defense. Third and

long was a problem on a few occasions as UAB converted on a 3rd and 15

and a 3rd and 17. I think they also converted a couple other 3rd and longs.

Continued stupid personal foul penalties.

Totally unacceptable.

Good part: Defense did not give up a TD and really only gave up 9 pts. But game was still in question mid-way through the 4th Qt. Hankins and Simon had
fantastic games.

Offense was inconsistent. Seems like we have brain farts consistently in the 1st and 3rd Quarters but dominate in the 2nd and 4th Quarters.

Smith still dropping balls that should be caught.

OL had a few breakdowns. Possibly their worst game of the year.

Thought the Offensive game plan could have been better.

Good part: J. Hall was impressive. Braxton Miller had another good day running the ball and a pretty pedestrian day throwing the ball. No INT's. Rod Smith held onto the ball and showed some skills running the ball. Buchanan had a great day punting the ball. The block was not his fault. Pinning UAB back inside their 5 yd line twice was HUGE.

At this point I could care less about score and more about
Consistent improvement. This feels like 04' redux. And as
Long as we beat scUM, then its a solid year.

Actually it feels more like 2000 at this point.

The Big Ten sucks, OSU started 5-0 that year too and then ran into a surprisingly decent Minny team and got their asses handed to them.

I see history repeating itself next week.

special teams gets a big shout out for sucking today, too...

penalty on a punt that gives UAB a first down...a blocked punt given up for a TD, a muffed kickoff that leads to power field position on the ensuing kickoff and poor recognition on the onside kick to start the 2nd half...

pretty glaring againt a team of UAB's callibur. How much of it was going through the motions because it was UAB and how much of it was poor coaching and preperation? no clue...just know that those kind of gaffs can't continue. Have faith they won't...but wow that was bad.

The 2002 team didnt start out too hot either but they turned it around.
I've seen this a few times over the past week and that simply is not the case:

August 24 vs. Texas Tech W 45-21
September 7 vs. Kent State W 51-17
September 14 vs. #10 Washington State W 25-7 (WSU won the Pac10)
September 21 at Cincinnati W 23-19
September 28 vs. Indiana W 45-17
October 5 at Northwestern W 27-16
October 12 vs. San Jose State W 50-7

The only close games until Wisconsin were both road games. The defense absolutely dominated the WSU game. They became the cardiac Buckeyes after they were 7-0 by only winning one of the last 7 by more than a touchdown (Minnesota, 34-3).
