Diddy says he is banned from UCLA football practices

Sometimes having a known celebrity hanging around the practice field can generate buzz for a program, but UCLA has decided to part ways with Sean “Diddy” Combs. That’s what the music star said today on a local morning radio show according to The Hollywood Reporter.

“As I know right now I’m not allowed,” Diddy said when discussing whether or not he was allowed back at UCLA practices.

Last month Diddy was involved in some form of altercation with UCLA strength and conditioning coach Sal Alosi. Reports suggested Alosi was attacked by Diddy after he took exception to how the strength and conditioning coach was working with his son, Justin Combs.

“I think there’s times when you have to just communicate and find out what’s going on and be by your children’s side,” said Diddy. “At the end of the day it’s just about communication to me. I went there to communicate. I can’t speak about anything else that happened.”

UCLA is sure having a hard time with rappers and/or their kids, last week Snoop Dogg's son quit the program.

Details of P. Diddy's Arrest at UCLA

.../snip/...

At approximately noon, Combs and Diddy came to UCLA’s athletic facility, the Acosta Center, while Alosi was in his office, which is adjacent to the weight room. Combs entered Alosi’s office while Alosi was on the phone, and Alosi asked Combs to wait a moment while he finished the call. Many sources who were in the locker room witnessed an angered Diddy enter Alosi’s office, rattling off expletives at the coach. Alosi then instructed interns who were immediately outside his office to alert campus security. A still incensed Diddy then came around Alosi’s desk, saying that he would get campus security on Alosi’s desk phone. Alosi, then, according to witnesses, put up his hand in a non-threatening way, and instructed Combs to get his father out of the office. Diddy then walked into Alosi’s hand, and told Alosi not to put his hands on him.

In the next moment, according to many on the scene, Diddy attacked Alosi, until interns and other personnel pulled off Diddy. The celebrity broke free again at one point and struck Alosi. The personnel were then successful in getting Diddy out of the office and into the weight room, where Diddy picked up a kettlebell, which is a weight that resembles a cannonball with a handle, and then swung it at one of the interns.

According to sources, Alosi had scratches on his face and his shirt was ripped as a result of the altercation.

UCPD arrived, and the situation reportedly calmed down, and those close to events believed nothing would come of the incident. The UCLA training facility, however, is equipped with security cameras, the police watched the video, and subsequently arrested Diddy.

This happened back in June.

Snoop's son quits football at UCLA to concentrate on film
LOS ANGELES (AP) -- UCLA wide receiver Cordell Broadus, the son of rapper Snoop Dogg, is giving up football to concentrate on pursuing a career in film production.

Broadus is an incoming freshman who signed with the Bruins in February after playing for Las Vegas high school powerhouse Bishop Gorman. He did not report to preseason camp with the football team.

UCLA coach Jim Mora confirmed in a statement Friday that Broadus had decided to stop playing but will continue to attend UCLA.

...

Didn't want to put in the work I guess. That or his dad pushed him into playing football.

CORDELL BROADUS

Screw Football ...I'M DESIGNING MEN'S UNDERWEAR

Cordell Broadus is trading football jerseys for underwear, but Snoop Dogg's son isn't just wearing the fancy drawers ... he's designing them.

Cordell shocked UCLA (and his dad) when he quit the football program to focus on his film production company -- but TMZ Sports has learned he has another side hustle with underwear co. PSD.

UCLA’s sports equity numbers for women include phantom players and men

UCLA provides far fewer opportunities to female athletes than its public reports suggest, Reveal from The Center for Investigative Reporting has found.

The latest “Reveal” episode shows that:

The way UCLA counts female athletes is misleading.

It’s questionable whether the school complies with Title IX, the law that requires schools to provide equal opportunities to female athletes. Under the law, UCLA has to show that women make up about 56 percent of its athletes because they make up that share of the overall student population.

UCLA padded its rowing team roster with scores of students who said they weren’t on the team.

The school reported having 127 rowers, almost twice the NCAA average and far higher than the 45 on its public roster for the 2014-15 season. Reveal’s Rachel de Leon reached 64 of the students – or their parents – whom the school had counted but weren’t on its public roster. More than two-thirds of them said they were never on the team that year.

UCLA counts men as women.

Our investigation also found that UCLA is counting dozens of male athletes as women. The most striking example: The women’s basketball team reports having 36 players, but 19 of them are male practice players. Department of Education rules allow UCLA and other schools to do this.

Jim Mora, on Josh Rosen’s ‘f**k Trump’ cap flap: ‘you’re heading towards Johnny Manziel’

490201004.jpg

Four years ago, being compared to Johnny Manziel would’ve been considered a compliment. These days? Not so much, as evidenced by Jim Mora discussing his precocious sophomore quarterback.

During an appearance on the Rich Eisen Show this week, the UCLA head coach lavished praise on the sophomore signal-caller, saying at one point that, had he been eligible, Rosen would’ve been the first pick in the 2016 NFL draft over Cal’s Jared Goff. Mora also compared, very favorably, his quarterback to future Hall of Famer Peyton Manning.

“I can’t remember ever seeing anyone at [Rosen’s] age with the arm talent, the intelligence, the decision-making, the drive, the passion and the ability that he has,” Mora said.

And then there was the JFF blast.

Earlier this offseason, Rosen created quite the kerfuffle when he wore a “f**k Trump” cap to one of the presumptive Republican presidential nominee’s golf courses. While most either viewed it as humorous or a kid being a kid, Mora couched the incident in terms that, given how Manziel’s career has crashed and burned, would open anyone’s eyes.

From BruinsNation.com:

Unless he continues to work hard…unless he makes good decisions…unless he dedicates himself the way that guys like Tom Brady and Drew Brees and Peyton Manning have then it’s a pipe dream. And, I’ve asked him “Who do you want to be Johnny Manziel or Tom Brady? And, you need to make that decision right now and you need to start working in the direction that you want to work in. So, if you’re going to go out on Donald Trump’s golf course and wear a hat that says ‘F– Trump’, I said, ‘You’re heading towards Johnny Manziel.’ So, let’s head toward Peyton Manning. Let’s head towards Tom Brady. Let’s head towards Troy Aikman,” who spent an hour with him on Sunday, which was fantastic…talking to him about the responsibilities of being a quarterback.

Josh Rosen, on UCLA’s $280 million deal: ‘we’re still amateurs though … gotta love non-profits’

502565428.jpg

Here’s to guessing that, right or wrong, Jim Mora won’t be pleased with his young quarterback’s latest social media foray.

Late last week, the UCLA head coach used the public airwaves to help “guide” Josh Rosen down the straight and narrow. Specifically, in regards to the Freshman All-American infamous “f**k Trump” cap flap this offseason, Mora stated that the rising sophomore was “heading towards Johnny Manziel” territory with stunts like that.

Hyperbole? Yes. But Rosen is seemingly hellbent on giving Mora further reason to continue down his odd “Money Manziel” path.

Shortly after it was reported that UCLA was set to sign a record-breaking $280 million apparel deal with Under Armour, Rosen took to social media to offer up some snark on the financial windfall that will line the pockets of the athletic department — and which the student-athletes won’t get a sniff.

Coming from a kid who had a hot tub in his dorm his freshman season and whose parents graduated from Ivy League schools — one’s a surgeon — it might not be the actual money but the principle that has Rosen feeling feisty. Whether his head coach gets just as feisty on his own JFF moral high ground in return remains to be seen.
