UF OL Ronnie "Taz" Wilson (official thread)

HH, just out of curiosity....Do you have any idea why Kurelic would say he doesn't believe Wilson will come here whether he's offered or not? Just seems to be inconsistent with what you've said.

Some people have more raw strength, others more muscle endurance - I don't know if you can draw an accurate correlation between the two.
Agreed, but those are two very different figures even considering endurance vs power. I'm guessing the 19 reps is much older stat than the 430 max.

Wilson is also strongly considering NC State. He will be participating in camp there. I don't know how many of these schools have offered, but if Florida, Miami and NC State are all interested, he must be doing something right.

Sounds like someone that we couldn't pass up if he wanted to come here. He would be welcomed with open arms. With that being said, does he project as a guard or a tackle? It appears at that size that he would project as a guard. No real loss if we don't get him; we are stacked at guard. Really need another bookend tackle to complement Boone.

We got the offical offer letter from OSU Thursday. Ronnie remains very excited about the opportunities at OSU.

I don't know where Bill K. gets his info. He did talk to Ronnie, but nothing was said to give him that impression as I heard one side of the conversation (Ronnies) when I was at his house.

Quotable from Ronnie Wilson:

Ohio State is a long way from Pompano Beach, but Wilson has been pondering whether or not leaving the state would be a big issue.

"I've really been thinking about it a lot," he said. "My parents don't really care as long as I'm happy. I know where Florida is; I can make it back down there."

BTW, he claims that he is beching 360, not 430 - that should clear up some of the "strength vs. endurance" questions from a few days ago.
Also, he could have actually put the weight up 30 times...but you have to use the correct technique, or the rep isn't counted. It's not unheard of to have as many as 40% of your reps deducted as a result of improper form.

I don't know that this was the case with Wilson...but it's a possibility to consider.
