UF OL Ronnie "Taz" Wilson (official thread)

NoFan....

That's an easy one... you siphon out the gasoline in your car and light that SOB on fire! Then you back up over it to make sure it's dead.... no wait that could get dangerous :)

Taz we need you man!!! You sound like an awesome lineman ready to kick some ass, which is exactly what we like in Columbus. There are quite a few florida guys on our roster, so your transition to playing at OSU should be greatly helped out by your other fellow floridians. Also, once you're part of the Buckeye family, your in it for life man, so everybody has your back. Once again, hope you come up here (I think you're planning on January) and get started on cracking the starting lineup. I could really see you as the next great OSU lineman, and remember, if you're good enough to start as a freshman, Coach T will put you in there. Hopefully, with a monster o-line class this year, we will be overpowering oponents for many years to come.

scUM is the University of Michigan

scUM South is the University of Miami

USCum is Southern Cal.

Cols. is Columbus, Ohio.

The Shoe is Ohio Stadium where 105,000 of your best friends will come to cheer you on to victory over all of the above mentioned SCUM :)

Ronnie, come and be a part of something special. You will be playing on a national stage every single week and will be playing for a National Championship, possibly as soon as your freshman year!!!

Taz- Welcome aboard! You need to make it up for a game this fall. Only then will you fully understand and appreciate why the fans on this board are so passonite about the Buckeyes. Best of luck to you in your Senior season.

TAZ:

scUM = University of Michigan. scUM is about the most polite way that many of us can refer to them

Cols = Columbus, the homeland of college football in Ohio. We have a number of other D1 football programs throughout Ohio (Cincinnati, Akron, Miami-Ohio, Toledo, Kent State, etc.) but it is the Buckeyes that are cheered for by all.

gold pants = earned by every player on the team for each time that they beat scUM.

To further illustrate the positive fanaticism expressed by tOSU fans, I hope that you realize just how big the rivalry game versus scUM is, on an annual basis. It's as though that day is state holiday, and everything seems to be focused around The Game that day. It could easily be compared to planning everything around Thanksgiving dinner. It's quite an awesome phenomena.

You sound like a great kid and I hope to see you earn the gold pants a few times (4 straight years would be nice.)

One last note:

Taz will be at the scUM game for his offical. We hope he will come up for almost every game on an unoffical. I guess it depends how often he wants to get up for a 5:30 am flight after his games the night before........

Taz,

Welcome to the board... if you have any questions about OSU, fire away... we'll be able to answer most of them...

OSU is the largest campus and second largest student body in the country... alum are everywhere, and help each other out...

As you probably know, OSU football is huge in the state (not just the city)... we pack over 100k each home game (scUM, OSU, PSU, and Tenn are the only four schools that can claim that.... and three are in the Big Ten!!)

What do you think you might want to major in? OSU offers a huge amount of various majors and a large majority of those programs are highly regarded in the Academia world...

Enjoy your time on campus when you come up to visit... the university offers a lot (not to mention the first class coaches that will assist you while you are here).

Welcome to Buckeye Planet, Taz!

I wish you the best in your recruiting - what an exciting time in your life! You've got all these choices and OPPORTUNITIES laid out in front of you, and it's up to YOU to decide where you'll best fit in. Many previous posters have already mentioned that Ohio State is a tight knit family - it's all true! From the time I grew up watching the Buckeyes on my grandpa's knee in the 70s to last season, watching games with fellow alums in Denver, CO - I've always felt a true kinship with other Buckeye fans. Wherever I go wearing a Buckeye shirt or jacket, I always get a few 'Go Bucks!' comments - even here in Colorado! :) .

One other thing I wanted to mention, and that is the Ohio State-Michigan rivalry. I grew up in Toledo, Ohio - which is truely the 'border town' in regards to the rivalry, as it's located only a few miles from the state line. I remember back in grade school all the way through high school, the entire WEEK before the big game would be dedicated to the rivalry. Each day of the week would have something to do with the GAME and on friday, every student would really show their true college colors. Naturally, being in Ohio, those colors were overwhelmingly Scarlet and Grey - but being so close to 'That State Up North', there would always be a few misguided souls wearing those foul Michigan colors .

Anyway, the OSU spirit in Ohio reaches all the way down into grade school, which fosters and develops an incredibly loyal fan base (remember the Fiesta bowl in Jan. 03'? The crowd was OVERWHELMINGLY pro-OSU). We'd love for you to be a part of our tradition, Ronnie, but we also understand that you need to do what's best for YOU. So, best of luck where ever you decide to play D-1 ball!

Go Bucks!!
