Underrated guitar players

Frank Gambale
Robert Marcello
Shaun Lane (RIP)
Rusty Cooley
Guthrie Govan
Allan Holdsworth

Underrated guitarist who people associate with douchebaggery: Mark Tremonti. Dude is a killer guitarist, just picked the wrong band.

Shawn Lane was freakin' awesome. It's a damn shame he died.

He may not be underrated, but is not recognized as often as I think he should be.
Don't drink and watch this.

Cool thread. A guy I always felt didn't get much due was Mike Campbell of the Heartbreakers. (Tom Petty) He's not a guy that will blow you away or dazzle you with technique but I've always loved his phrasing.

Saw some mention of George Lynch earlier in the thread. He was always my favorite player.

I'm always shocked at how few people realize how amazing Buckingham really is.

I'd take buckethead and Shaun Lane as underrated.

Warren DeMartini- RATT; always knew how to make those solos ring and sing.

Bruce Kulick- KISS; Call me crazy as I know that Ace Frehley was and always will be the best guitarist KISS ever had, but I love a lot of stuff that Kulick played on the albums in the 80s. Some quick fingers along with a melodic twist made for some memorable songs/solos

Gary Clark Jr - he wont be underrated for long, released a few albums on his own here in Austin, then got invited by Clapton to play Crossroads, from the DVD he landed a major record deal

The King of Surf Guitar. Take a good look at how this man learned to play his guitar. String your guitar upside down and see how it works out for ya. No guitar books for beginners or tab websites are gonna show you this...

You've all heard this song.
