University of Tennessee Football

The guy's name is Antron Wright. he used to coach at Killian HS down in Miami. Killian always has D1A prospects.

He's pushing a bunch of Florida prospects out of state, and now all of the sudden they have major interest in UT, such as Kenny Phillips. Phillips has a poster of Sean Taylor in his locker and says him and Ed Reed are his favorite football players, and now he's 50/50 between Miami and UT? Same with his teammate Ricky Jean Francois. It's getting some press down there and most of the recruiting sites know about it.

He was handing out UT gear to players at the Cali-Florida bowl.

Never again.

I admit that I was always one to beat my drum about other programs and their transgressions. None of us know what has happened. Phil Fulmer may be a tremendous person and coach.

We ALL know now that NOTHING that we read can be believed until the actual person accused admits wrong doing. I won't ever again point fingers.

Innocent until PROVEN guilty.

Go Bucks!!

As much as Tennessee is a big school, they're sort of a second tier team. They're not on the same level as OU, USC, tOSU, scUM, etc.

Are you on crack? Since fatass' first full season there (1993), Tennessee has a record of 119-31-0 (.793), a consensus national title, two outright conference titles and four division titles in a conference that is always among the best in the country, has gone to bowl games every year except 2002, and has been ranked every year except 2002, including six seasons in the top 10. They also beat us 20-14 in the only game they played against us. Few other teams in the country can match such an 11-year run. No fuckin' way they're a second-tier team.

I agree, they are a top tier team. Arguably one of the top 5 jobs in the country. The atmosphere and love for the football program is very similar (if not in some ways greater) to OSU.

I was born in Knoxville and have been to a few games. I have lived in Columbus Ohio the majority of my life and go to at least 2 Buckeye games a year as well. So that's how I draw my comparison. Anyway.

This will be interesting as many alumni have been unsatisfied with Phil for the past several seasons since he won a national title. They feel that he has slacked off somewhat in recruiting since the title. These same people feel a change would be good but you can't fire the guy since he almost won another SEC title.

I've placed a call to a Vol alumni and former player under both Johnny Majors and Fullmer. If he knows anything on the subject that hasn't already been discussed here I'll post it after I hear from him.

To clarify, here is another way of saying what I meant:
Tennessee is one fo the best schools in teh country, but I think they are sort of a step behind the top-5 (USC, OU, Mich, tOSU).

Which is why I said sort of. If you walked into a tabloid magazine editor's office and you told him you had two articles to run, one on Tennessee one on Ohio State, which one would he tell you to run?

I should have said they are at the lower end of the top tier, as that is an opinion I'd stick to. I would align them with the likes of LSU, clearly a top team in terms of national prestige and such, but are still a little bit behind Ohio State/Mich/USC/OU in my unofficial, non-expert opinion.

Tennessee #11 overall ranking on this site (no idea if this is a great source, I'm just too lazy to keep looking)
http://www.cfbdatawarehouse.com/data/rankings/all_time_team_rankings.php

I think I would put them at around #7 in my book.

Recently they are definitely a top tier team. I'm basing my #7 on overall plus recent results.

This is fucking great... after that rat Fat Phil ratted out other programs... his shady ass is gonna get the clamp.
If all is true as implied then that's the only part about this that comes close to bringing a smile to my lips. Hypocrisy is something I just detest.

Team All-Time Rankings

Tennessee has been a better team than Michigan, Oklahoma, and USC since 1993. Oklahoma and USC have only been great since 2000 and 2001 respectively...they were mediocre at best from 1993 through 1999. As for tabloid articles, which ever was the juiciest story would be run, whether if it were at OSU or UT. Finally, the CFB link you provided is all-time rankings...again, since 1993 Tennessee has been a top-flight football program. Now, the question is, "How did they get to be such a top-flight program?"

"Recently they are definitely a top tier team."

I went back and added that line later.

True indeed. One has to wonder what made such a drastic turnaround in such a short amount of time.

Btalley had me until he started talking about the tsun fight song. Lost all credibility after that. haha

There is nothing "great" about wishing other fans and teams the misery that follows if there is any truth too these rumors. Buckeye fans most of all should know the pain and frustrations of what rumors and innuendos do to recruiting and the image of the school we all love so much. Take no delight in something like this. I'd love for Ohio State to squash Tennessee on the field but to be defeated by some jerks at espin (or other "journalist's) just stirring up the dirt, is a shame. If there are violations, I hope the situation is rectified and that they are competitive soon.

Ah! The power of the press and internet! If it's on the internet or ESPN it MUST be true! This shit will only keep getting worse before it gets better! Every year during recruiting season the craziness will start! Some over zealous coach or fan or wanna be will start some shit! I read that some guy in Florida was giving out UT jerseys and hats by the score at the Califlorida game!

Cajun, I'm not ready to crucify Tennesee yet either, but ease up there a bit. About 80% of guilty people don't admit wrongdoing. If the evidence is put forth, I'll believe, regardless of if Fulmer admits to anything. Wait and see game here.

But, I also agree, as Buckeye fans, we should be the last to jump to conclusions based on some rumor and innuendo. Although, it makes me feel a little better to know this isn't just happening to us. Misery does love company.

Agree, easily a top tier program in talent, fan base and tradition. Believe Neyland is third largest stadium in CFB (over 100,000+)
