Didn't the annual Big 10 laughing stock go to the toughest Pac10 stadium to play in and beat the team predicted to finish 3rd?
And one game means...So when 4th place Oregon beat the eventual B10 champ Michigan last year, did that mean anything? No.

As for the Pac 10 being as good as the B10? Definitely laughable. I fully agree this appears to be a down year for the B10, but the PAC 10 just sucks. I would love to have the #1 B10 team vs. #1 P10 team, #2 B10 team vs. #2 P10 team, etc. My guess is, the B10 goes something like 8-2, or 7-3.
Well,

#1s: USC v OSU- I and a decent chunk of America would take USC. I'm sure you guys would take OSU. Slight Edge: PAC

#2s: Cal v Michigan- Edge: PAC

#3s: Oregon v Minny.- Edge: B11

#4s: Arizona St. v Purdue- Purdue has feasted on below-average Syracuse and cupcake Ball St. Andrew Walters v Kyle Orton. ASU has already beat to B11 teams. Edge: PUSH, but take the over

#5s: Oregon St v Wisconsin- Wisconsin's offense is sitting on the sidelines, and they tried very hard to lose to lowly Arizona. OSU was able to put up points against LSU, so why not Wisconsin? Edge: PAC

#6s: Wazzu v Iowa- Wazzu has won 10+ games the last 3 seasons, but they got almost nobody back from graduation. Iowa survived lowly ISU and lost 44-7 to Arizona St. Edge: B11 (but I would've said that about Iowa V ASU before last weekend)

#7s: Stanford v Penn ST- I don't know

#8s: UCLA v Northwestern- Depends on whether NW can stop the run

#9s: Arizona v Michigan St.- Edge: B11

10s: Washington v Indiana- Edge: B11

11s: Illinois

yeah, maybe 3 years ago............................idiot. (gotta spread the wealth to buckeye & non-buckeye alike

Good call on that one, I mixed up the scores. Thanks for the idiot reference, I always love to hear from my fans.

Actually methomps, Northwestern has done pretty well this year against the run with them giving up only 114 yards per game. Their passing defense is terrible though, their opponents are averaging over 315 yards per game in the air. :tongue2: .

You talk shit because you have ONE player. USC very well could have lost to Va Tech, but benefitted from one of the worst calls that I have seen this season, which totally shifted the momentum.

When all else fails, here is USC's play. "Mike, we'll line you up in the slot and send you deep". Somewhere along the road against a good defense, someone will stop Bush, then you'll be fucked.
You sound like all the guys who say that OSU's luck will eventually run out.

And if you think that was one of the worst calls this season, you haven't been watching many games.

a decent chunk of america has been picking the other team for a couple years now. a decent chunk of america has been WRONG for a couple years now. but im sure this is the one that they will get right :roll1:

#2s: Cal v Michigan- Edge: PAC
i didnt know this was a humor column.

wow, i was going to go through the rest of your numbers, but i cant see anymore with the tears of laughter in my eyes.

i only caught it because of my large distaste for the kittens.

so what we basically have with this USC-hijacked thread is a couple of USC fans who are at the same time proclaiming the PAC-10s greatness....and discrediting every PAC-10 team that gets beat by a Big10 team, right? standford sucks, oregon is average, but the PAC-10 is just as good as the Big10. ooooooooooooooooook.

Do you really think Michigan is better than Cal? This is the same Michigan team that saved Willingham's job and almost lost in the Big House to SDSU, right? Michigan has lost a couple straight games to Pac10 teams, so why not Cal?

It just too early to tell much. Many of you folks don't think there should be polls released until mid season. The same reasoning applies. Not enough data to predict future results.

I will however say this to stripes. You are a pretty good and knowledgeable poster, so lose all references to Jeff Sagarin polls. This is the same man who in 2002, when #1 and undefeated Miami (possibly the best team ever :-) took on #2 and undefeated Ohio State (the only 2 undefeated teams), thought that a 2 loss SC team was the #1 team in the nation.

Secondly, respect is earned. SC is the only team from the PAC10 to earn serious national respect within the past 4 years. Prove it for a couple three years and then you get some kudos. Sorry but perennial whipping boy Cal doesn't garner respect just yet ... not on the basis of 1 win last season. That goes for the rest of the PAC10. There may be some good teams, but it's too early to tell this season, and performance from the past 3 doesn't warrant any.

On another level .. let's lose the name calling please (That's to all, not just stripes).

Well, you say that one can't judge how two teams will play based on just a few games, but earlier you laughed at the idea of Michigan losing to Cal.

2001: 10-2
2002: 10-3
2003: 10-3

Who respects them?

Problem with that is I don't really think UM's the 2nd best team in the B10 this year. Minnesota, Purdue, and (when Davis comes back) Wisconsin have some things to say about it. Even still--something about OSU being at the top.
There's no doubt in my mind that the B11 is plenty deeper than the P10. I'd love to see 10 games on neutral sites.

Huh? Are you replying to me? I don't recall laughing at the idea of Michigan losing to Cal. And who's records are you showing? Not California that's for sure.

You've totally lost me methomps.

Um, does anyone here really think that scUM is the #2 team in the B10 this year? I don't....but I still think they would beat Cal. 3yards hit in on the head, once these teams consistently win, they may earn some respect.

Methomps, I'm assuming this
2001: 10-2
2002: 10-3
2003: 10-3
refers to Cal? The problem is, with Cal's schedule, they're dropping two or three games a year to bad or mediocre teams. Minnesota is a good comparison. If you look at where Minny is predicted to finish each year (for the last 3-4 years) compared to where they actually do finish, it's laughable. They're always dropping a couple games to sub-par teams. Unfortunately, the competition in the Pac 10 has not been that strong lately. I mean, Wazzou was a "good" team in the Pac 10 in 02, but what did they do? And what have they done since? The difference between the conferences isn't only the records each year, but the schedules. If a team like Cal goes 10-2, but their two losses are to Wazzou and UCLA, that doesn't mean nearly as much as an Iowa team that goes 10-2, with their two losses coming against OSU and miSHITgan. I honestly am not trying to flame or rip on the Pac 10, but I truly feel it is the worst conference in NCAA (excluding the Big Least, of course - that shouldn't even be considered a conference). In my eyes, the Pac 10 and Big XII are fighting for the basement.

Now, having said that, I will agree that USC is a legitimate contender (and has been) and would be at the top of any conference in the country. I think we can both be glad our boys aren't playing in the SEC this year...
