Urban F. Meyer (Former OSU, CFB and NFL coach)

Urban Meyer to interview with Jaguars to discuss head coaching position

No deal between Jacksonville and Meyer is imminent as the Jaguars still have an interview with San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator Robert Saleh Saturday. Jacksonville has already interviewed Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy and Atlanta Falcons interim head coach Raheem Morris earlier this week.

Adam Schefter says Meyer has quietly been assembling a coaching staff, many from the college ranks. I’m really curious who is on his list....

Again, I hope this wouldn’t include Mariotti or Pantoni.

I would understand Mariotti, but why Pantoni do you think? Since he’s instrumental on the recruiting side, talent assessment while drafting?

I really can't see him ultimately taking the job but if he does I can't see taking anyone from Ohio State. Just seems like that would be slightly out of bounds. Maybe Corey Dennis but even that would be kind of weird---college coach goes to the NFL and immediately hires his son in law.

Football operations are a huge part of building a successful organization....While Pantoni is Director of Personnel at tOSU, I’d imagine he could take a role as an Operations manager or potentially an Assistant GM type role that could lead him to a higher upside position than what he’s doing now.

We’ll see...it’s just a gut feeling. I don’t think we can hold onto Pantoni forever in this role, as at some point, I believe someone will back up brinks truck for his organizational skills.

Every team would be interested...Chargers and Herbert would be intriguing
Chargers would be a far better job. They already have their QB and are ready to contend for making the playoffs next season. If he can get the Chargers job, that would be a fair opportunity to prove himself at the NFL level. I can't say the Jaguars job is particularly attractive.
