So he wanted NFL assistants but so far has Ash and Charlie Strong? Is he gonna hire Billy Davis to coach LB's?

He’s going to mix college and NFL guys and that’s OK, if they’re the right guys.

I 100% do not see Linehan being the right guy. His track record sucks almost across the board with exception to one outlier year that made his career.

Keep in mind Ash and Strong are likely position group coaches and will not be DC.

I just hope to god Meyer finds someone better than Linehan. Talk about a wet blanket on an exciting time for Jags fans. I’d be so frustrated as a Jags fan if they take Lawrence #1 and pair him with Linehan lolol. Brutal.

Huge misconception Meyer is gonna run his JT Barrett style offense in Jax.

Guy isn't a legendary X's and O's coach by being an idiot.

I hope he hires great assistants, but either way, the offense isn't going to look like Tebow/Barrett where QB is a glorified FB.

As an aside....u know who Meyer is great friends with...Sean Payton (part of reason JT Barrett was on their practice squad so long). I can see Jax incorporating aspects of the QB run like NO has done with Taysom Hill, for specialized situations.

But Meyer isn't making a system out of it.

I don't think anyone expects a JT offense in the pros. His system has never been pro-friendly, though. It seems foolish to think he's had that in his back pocket all along and never used it.

He utilized it in college because it was a glorified Wing T offense with better athletes than those across from him. He called it a "power spread" and it was an accurate title. In college, when you can "out athlete" the defense in front of you, and tease them with athletic freaks like Percy Harvin or Curtis Samuel, the formula makes perfect sense.

But he also recognizes that won't work in NFL.....I have full confidence he will let his coordinators manage their respective sides of ball, while he serves as the team leader, and final rubber stamp of approval.

I'm not gonna sit here and say with certainty he will be a successful NFL head coach. I will say, his ability as a pseudo-psychologist and ability to read people is special. I think he will adapt to his players just fine. It will be a different style, but one that fits the moment.
