Urban F. Meyer (Former OSU, CFB and NFL coach)

Because of what it means. Your health is more important than our football team....but not someone else's football team?

I made a comment after the punishment was handed out last year that I wouldn’t have blamed him for standing up and bolting right then and there. I’m very happy he finished the season with a Rose Bowl win, but he had every damn right to leave and I say good for him and good luck in whatever else he decides to pursue.

The University should be ashamed that they lost one of the best to ever do it over a hack of a president (and that’s being generous).

If that's why he left. Which...you're calling him a liar.

No, he just has more respect for Ohio State than to start fires when he can walk away with his head held high. Why burn a bridge when you’re already on the other side?

Sometimes, as a leader and as a man, it’s better to keep your mouth shut and take the high road. He doesn’t have to explain every reason for leaving to the entire world.

Urban: "By rule, when you spill on defense you have to spill to someone. When not, you lose leverage, lose contain, and as a result, especially with his juice and his speed... 72 yard TD."

Herbstreit (probably): "That's what he can do in space."

Urban has a higher purpose than to coach another college program. He was put here to kill ESPN's idiotic commentary in favor of better product or force them to upgrade their game.

Never said he did. But the answer to the question of why Ohio State fans would care is obvious. They'd care because it's a direct statement.....I didn't want to keep coaching your team.

Seems pretty clear that it was a terribly stressful situation with Smith, and he doesn't want to have it hanging over him everyday with the school board and the school with future decisions he makes when he doesn't need to handle it.

He left the school in great shape, so we should just wish him well, whatever reason he is leaving doesn't really matter. As long as he doesn't replace Harbaugh I will be thankful for what he has done for our program.

Last night at my cycling class there was this younger guy with a "Redhawks" T-shirt on. I went over to give him a little bit of grief about this past weekend's game and it turns out the Redhawks was for Seattle University. Got to talking and it turns out he's a UCLA fan and he's all worried that Urban is going to replace Helton a USC when Helton eventually gets fired or "steps down". I tried to convince him that Meyer ain't returning to coaching essentially because his wife has put the kabosh (sp?) on it but he said he keeps hearing rumors he would since he's in LA. I reminded him that he flies back and forth from C-Bus for the shows and not in LA full time, but it still didn't convince him.

Right. But the reasons for that are irrelevant. It is fact that he didn’t want to keep coaching the Buckeyes. The reason...who cares. I hope he’s happy and healthy. If he coaches again, best of luck.
