Urban F. Meyer (Former OSU, CFB and NFL coach)

I didn't say the players were going away, I was just making the point to the other user, that if Urban left, forced or willingly, the program would still be standing up. I don't want him to leave either, unless, of course, he doesn't feel like he can't handle all the job anymore, I just wish he changed the way he deals with his assistants. Another thing that's bothering me, is that somehow all the losses, to Iowa, Purdue, MSU '15 and Clemson are somehow eerily similar. Just disastrous game plans and maybe preparation ?
And the other user was commenting on those that want Urban out or think his time has come and what potential impact that could have from a personnel standpoint given the current/changing state of the NCAA.
Sure the program will still stand, it was here before Urban and will be here after.

There are some pointing to UFM's overall record until now as whether or not he should keep coaching. There are also those who point to Iowa 2017 and Purdue 2018 as anomalies or "missteps". What he has done up until now is not necessarily indicative of what he will continue to do. Iowa and Purdue weren't missteps, or hiccups, or anything of the like...they were epic beatdowns that were all-time within their respective series. This may sound like a veiled call for his retiring after the season...it is not. But to tell you the truth, right now, I have zero faith that a UFM-coached team from here out will pull off what they did in 2014...

Certainly not without changes to the staff. That will be the most telling piece in the off season. I’m also going to be interested to see how he closes this recruiting class. Recent rumblings are not positive....

I know that you are new so I will preface this remark by saying that I don't like ad hominem attacks. Let's also acknowledge that Meyer screwed up keeping Zach Smith. He may be loyal to a fault, but loyalty also has its rewards.

Now, my point is that you are speculating and taking vast leaps that are not supported by fact or logic. Precisely what do you know about how Meyer interacts with his assistants? Just because he does not say something publicly doesn't mean that he doesn't in private. Do you think he'd attract and hold great assistants if he treated them like Saban treated Joey Freshwater? The culture at Ohio State has been good and if we hadn't had that meaningless piece of crap lying to build his job opportunities, it would be a much different picture right now.

Postgame comments attributed to Meyer suggest to me that he chewed some arses all the way home and that some assistants spent part of today dusting off their resumes. As for the assistants, several of them are looking already and I have no doubt Meyer will be helping them find their way unless things change quickly. Coaches weren't responsible for 10 penalties yesterday either, so expect some players to have some attention as they take on the next two weeks.

Sorry if it looked like I attacked you it was definitely not what I meant. When I say that I'm disappointed in the way he deals with his assistants I mean this, lets go back a little bit in time it was clear that WR‘s were under performing, or at least many people in the Buckeye community acknowledged that, and when all evidence has pointed to Smith he still wasn't replaced. In my opinion, and you're right it's not fact based, his loyalty to guys like Smith and Davis while being a valuable trait, is, and once again in my opinion, a wrong thing to do purely based on the business side. A teacher once told me that you shouldn't employ close friends, because if they are not good enough for the job you're gonna have a hard time showing them the door, and I believe that plays a part in Urban's psyche. I have not doubt that what you say is true, that he still rides and chews everyone's behinds no matter who they are, but I just wish he would be a little bit colder in the off-season when it's in my opinion clear that some coaches aren't up for the demanding job that is being an Ohio State coach, which is fine not everybody has that ability, that's why guys like LJ .Sr and Coombs are and were so valuable to the program. The rest to me is fine, I like the culture he brought here, and I also believe that some players have to be held accountable for their current form.

Once again let me say that it is just my opinion, which I agree is more inference based than fact based, and is absolutely not meant to disrespect you, or any one for that matter.

I think he’s talking about the urban that showed up in 2012. The urban that would choke you over a game a checkers. The urban that pumps up his players, and throws his headset when the refs fuck up. The urban that takes risks on the field. Since midway through the 2015 season he has slowly quieted down. Now he’s standing alone hanging his head on the sidelines. Before it looked like he was enjoying it. Now it looks like just a job.

He put in five good years with us until his issues. And as Urban recently said, "My pyloric valve did close quite violently this afternoon when Mr. Drake asked me to add a column of texts for him."

WTF are you talking about!?!?!

Not just this, but anyone who thinks that Urban should leave is seriously out of their freaking minds! I get it, we lost, we lost for another year, to a team that we shouldn't. IT HAPPENS FOLKS! We all know that the team has some major holes, but its one loss, for a team. It shows how spoiled our fan base is when they can call for one of the greatest HCs in CFB history to be fired, when our "off years" with him are winning NY6 bowls! For those asking for Urban to be gone, just ask yourselves who would you want to replace him, and do you think that next hire would have the record that Urban has as of today? I get it, we're all angry and disappointed at a team that should look much better. But we called for Urban to stop with the playcalling(it happened), we wanted a better passing threat QB(it happened), now it's certainly on Urban to make some better assistant hires, and we all know that he's deathly loyal to his assistants. The talent level at OSU is to a level that the only other program that we can compare ourselves to is Alabama, and the 2 coaches couldn't be more different personality wise. But the fan bases are every bit as rabid(and delusional) during loses. There will be most likely no staffing changes made until the end of the season, so we might as well suck it up and hope that each assistant can shore up his area. If there's a person fans should be mad at, it's Ryan Day. And no, I'm not starting the pitchfork brigade at him, but he, Stud and Meyer need to sit down and figure out a way to get this run game going, because the cute RPO BS ain't cutting it when everyone knows that Haskins ain't running it. Heck, if teams like WashSt, Oregon, Texas Tech and other pass happy offenses can find running games, without DT QBs, we sure as hell should be able to do the same
I don’t want him to leave I just want accountability..Pryor and Prince could use a series or two on the bench when the continue making mental mistakes. There is a huge roster of 4 and 5 stars use it.

Okay - we were beaten by a well prepared Purdue team that was just waiting for this game for a long time. We hung in there for the 1st half. But we could not capitalize in our Red Zone game efforts and that was the difference in the 2nd half and eventually we let the effort get away from Us. Also we know that every opponent who prepares to play us they act as if the game is THIER National Championship game. It has been that was for years. Shit happens and this is what college football is all about. We are a crippled, hurting football team right now. I hope that Urbans health Is not an issue here and that he , Day and Studrawwa can get is all together during the next 2 weeks. At least I hope so.
