With numerous former Buckeyes working out in Indianapolis during the 2016 NFL Combine, Ohio State Buckeyes head coach Urban Meyer recognizes the dichotomy of having so many future NFL players, but the reality that these players will not be returning to the Buckeyes come the fall. Ohio State had 14 players invited to the combine this year--more than any other school. Headlining the group is junior defensive end Joey Bosa, who is considered the top pass rusher in this year’s draft class and a likely top-five pick.

Meyer discussed several of these players with the NFL Network over the weekend in regards to their future NFL potential. About Bosa, Meyer reiterated his previous comments that Bosa is "as good as I’ve ever been around," noting in particular Bosa’s way of "getting skinny" and getting to the quarterback.

Running back Ezekiel Elliott who, like Bosa, is foregoing his senior season at Ohio State, is widely considered the best running back in this year’s draft, owing to his outstanding blocking ability, but questions remained about Elliott’s controversial comments following the Buckeyes’ loss to Michigan State in November. While acknowledging that it was not the place to make those comments. Meyer said that people have to "move on" and focus on the more important aspects of Elliott. Elliott has had more than 1,800 rushing yards in each of the last two seasons, and 41 touchdowns during the same period.

Meyer also brought high praise for quarterback-turned-receiver Braxton Miller, stating that teams should have patience with Miller while he continues to learn the nuances of the wide receiver position. Miller is projected as high as a late first round pick due to his speed and athleticism, but could fall to day two of the draft.

After a heartbreaking, triple-overtime loss to Michigan State--which followed a similarly heartbreaking overtime loss to Minnesota--the No. 9 Ohio State Buckeyes fell to the two-seed in the Big Ten women’s basketball tournament scheduled to begin Wednesday. Maryland, ranked No. 5 nationally, earned the top-seed in the conference tournament with the second loss by the Buckeyes. The Terrapins, who earned the outright regular season title this year for the second year in a row, won the Big Ten tournament last year as well, defeating Ohio State in the championship game. This year has been a different story, however, as Ohio State defeated Maryland in both regular season meetings.

Ohio State has gone 23-6 on the season overall, including 15-3 in conference. Besides the last two games, the team’s only other conference loss was an 86-82 score against Northwestern in Evanston. The Buckeyes’ first tournament game is scheduled for Friday evening, after earning first and second round byes in the tournament, and they will play either Nebraska (No. 7) or Rutgers (No. 10).

Rounding out the top four seeds in the tournament are Michigan State (No. 3) and Indiana (No. 2). Ohio State won its only game versus Indiana this season, and split the series with Michigan State.

"We have a lot of talent on this team. Once we put it all together and once we play our best, I think we’ll be unstoppable."

The No. 18 Ohio State Buckeyes women’s lacrosse team scored an important win over Duquesne Sunday, defeating the Dukes by a score of 16-6 in the Horseshoe. The win comes just a week after the team suffered their first loss of their young season at Stanford. Despite Duquesne running out to an early 1-0 lead, Ohio State scored seven unanswered goals and were up 9-3 at the break. The Buckeyes continued their dominance in the second half for the 10-goal victory. Senior attackman Cian Dabrowski led the Buckeyes in scoring with five goals on the day. Ohio State also did an outstanding job on draw control, going 19-5 overall, and only losing a single draw in the first half. Dabrowski won six draws, while sophomore midfielder Molly Wood added five draw controls and two goals.

The defense, which had struggled in the first three games of the season, was much improved against Duquesne. Despite only giving up eight goals in their opening game against Detroit, the Buckeyes gave up 15 and 18 goals in their last two meetings against Cal and Stanford. Senior goalie Katie Frederick recorded a season-high nine saves against Duquesne, and the defense allowed just six goals--the fewest all season.

With the win, the Buckeyes move to 3-1 on the season, and are set to face No. 15 Johns Hopkins this weekend.
