USC Trojans (official thread)

I guess. But Sean McVey didn't have a failed tenure as a HC in college fresh on his resume. Like I said, I get looking at him as an OC, but as a head coach? Dumb.

Yeah, when I heard this on the radio, first thought it was Arizona, and that Sumlin had been fired. Definitely a chuck-n-pray move with zero imagination.

Literally must've googled 'Young flashy OCs with fashionable haircuts'.

USC Blind Long Snapper Jake Olson Comes in for Final PAT vs. UNL

Blind long snapper Jake Olson snapped on the USC Trojans' final extra-point attempt of their 43-21 win over the UNLV Rebels on Saturday at Los Angeles Memorial Stadium.

Olson's snap was successful, as Chase McGrath converted the extra point with 1:38 remaining in the contest:

The redshirt junior, who has been blind since the age of 12, walked on to the USC football team in 2015, but it wasn't until last season that he saw game action.

Olson successfully snapped an extra-point attempt in last season's opener against Western Michigan, and he did so later in the campaign against Oregon State.

The Huntington Beach, California, native was named USC's Most Inspirational Player last season for his efforts.

(In case you missed it last September) Another "feel good" story about a blind high school football player....

Blind football player scores 2 touchdowns

Blind Phoenix Brophy Prep running back Adonis Watt, whose story was chronicled by azcentral sports on Sept. 6, ran for two touchdowns in a freshman football game last week against Mesa Mountain View.

Feds looking into whether USC great Pat Haden was involved in college admissions scheme

By JOEL RUBIN and MATTHEW ORMSETH
JUN 05, 2019 | 5:30 PM

Federal investigators are scrutinizing whether Pat Haden, the former USC athletic director, was involved in the college admissions bribery and cheating scheme carried out by William “Rick” Singer, according to a source with knowledge of the case.

In response to questions about his possible involvement with Singer, Haden issued a statement Wednesday through his son-in-law denying wrongdoing:

“Like many people, I was introduced to Mr. Singer several years ago by a friend. I was unaware of his illegal activities and had no ongoing relationship with him whatsoever.”

Donnie Dixon Haden said his father-in-law had not “been contacted by or spoken to federal authorities.”

Haden, 66, has not responded to several interview requests from The Times since March, when prosecutors unveiled their sweeping investigation into Singer’s admissions scam that involved allegations of wrongdoing at USC and several other universities.

Prosecutors’ interest in Haden was first reported by the Wall Street Journal.

So, while I was checking the latest 247 team rankings I noticed that USC was not on the first page (50 teams). Come to find out that USC is currently ranked #57 with 9 commits, including just 2 4-stars with the 2nd 4-star being the 289th rated recruit. All other recruits outside the top 700 in the country. Their class is currently 7th in the PAC 12.

USC survives injury to starting QB J.T. Daniels to escape with win over Fresno State

gettyimages-1171439645-e1567314797321.jpg

Saturday night’s season opener for USC was supposed to be a fresh start. There was a fancy renovated Coliseum to showcase, a brand new offense to unveil and a chance for the Trojans to wash away the memories of last year’s losing season.

Unfortunately for the once proud Pac-12 bell cow and their embattled head coach, anything that could have gone wrong in their contest against Fresno State probably did early on in a slim 31-23 win over the defending Mountain West champs that was anything but easy.

Trojans starting quarterback J.T. Daniels was undoubtedly the story of the game. After getting off to a good start in running the team’s Air Raid offense for the first time (215 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT), the sophomore suffered the double whammy of taking a sack just before halftime that also resulted in a serious lower leg injury. Trainers checked out his knee for several minutes and had to carry him off the field before eventually loading him into the cart.

Daniels did not return and later returned to the sidelines on crutches and with a brace on his right knee — casting doubt on his status for the rest of the young season.

Those of us of a certain age fondly recall the moment in the 60's when B actress, Edie Williams, dressed as a USC song girl for the Notre Dame game and when the camera focused on her she began to lift the sweater revealing her magnificent hooters. The screen faded to black, and then came back to the action on the field. Glorious.
