Van Halen at the Schott.....

NightmaresDad

Woody Rules!
...last night.

Took my oldest.
Everybody was great except DLR - mostly either spoke or yelled the lyrics - not much singing. Still a good showman, though.

One highlight was a very good version of "Crossroads" done Clapton style.

Also the first time I'd been inside the Schott - that place is freakin' HUGE!
anyone else go?

Yeah, I saw them as well. Eddie still rulz man....and so does Alex on the drums. I believe that was Eddie's 16 yr old son on the bass....wow, he's a pretty talented bass player! Some good musical genes passed on there!

You're right about David Lee Roth....his vocals were a little annoying at times.....but is still very much the DLR of old as far as showmanship goes.

I didn't know he had cancer. I just know that right before the Balance album he lost it on a golf bet. I thought he just decided to keep rockin it. Now that I think of it he did grow his hair back out. So your probably right.

Yeah....Balance was a while back!

throat cancer.....was blamed on his chronic smoking.....I think his wife was thinking of divorcing him recently as he still hasn't kicked the habit!

Saw VH tonite w my brother at the Izod Center in NJ. I cant believe how on these guys were. I saw them 20+ years ago, and they were better tonight. (Although I do recall the audience looking better back then.... ). Eddie missed the first performance due to rehab, but he looked like he was having a blast tonight playing w Dave, his brother, and his son. They played all of the hits from when they were together. Dare I say one of the best concerts I have ever been to.
