Hargreaves is on track to be one of the top corners in 2013. He can cover on or off the line, he really explodes out of his breaks, and he can flip his hips with the best of them. There are not a lot of concerns about his game. He can improve his back pedal, making his steps a little quicker, and making sure he is on balance, but he is a true corner who will be a top recruit. - Chad Simmons

Man for sophmore film this kid is tough. Sticks his nose right up in there on the run like so many other great tackling bucks DBs. has a tendency to rely on his speed a little too much and peeks in the back field too early but grat insticts and hey if you got the speed to make up for it. He is gonna be tough.

Vernon Hargreaves Interview: Not A USF Lock, Will Visit Schools
By Bud Elliott - College Football Recruiting Editor and Analyst

Hargreaves is still very open to a number of schools.

May 18, 2012 - Vernon Hargreaves III is the son of a college coach, probably the best defensive back recruit in the country, and he happens to play just down the road from my house. So, of course the Tampa (Fla.) Wharton High School got a visit during SB Nation's spring recruiting coverage. Hargreaves stands 5'11 and weighs in at 180 pounds. He is a consensus five-star recruit with offers from all over the country including Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Florida, Florida State, LSU, Miami, Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Penn State, South Carolina, Stanford, South Florida, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Washington, Wisconsin and USC.

"Spring has been going good. Everybody is working hard, learning the playbook with our defensive coordinator, coach Thomas, our DB coach. We're learning and getting better," Hargreaves said. "And as far as how we're going to do this season, well, not everybody is out here yet. I think our strengths will be our offensive and defensive line. We are going to need some work with the DBs and linebackers," he added.

There haven't been many new offers for Hargreaves this spring because he already held offers from pretty much every school in the country, though Michigan State did swing through to extend an offer.

With his dad coaching at USF, many believe Hargreaves is a strong lean to the Bulls.

"I can't really comment on that. They can think whatever they want, but just because he coaches there doesn't mean I'm going to go there. I mean, he could leave. A lot of people don't think about that. But I don't really care about what people think," Hargreaves said.

Hargreaves doesn't have an official top list of schools yet because he hasn't been out of the state to see other schools. But that will soon change,

"I'll be taking trips this summer. I'll start up north at Michigan and Ohio State, and some of the Big Ten schools. And I'll make my way back down to see Auburn, Georgia, Alabama and the SEC," Hargreaves said. He also plans to visit Stanford, USC, Cal and Oregon for the Opening over the summer.

Vernon Hargreaves III, DB, Class of 2013

He's BHSN's No. 1 player on our Top 30 list, with too many offers to even list.
Dad. who is a recruiting coordinator and coach at USF, has continued to give him advice on the recruiting process: "Stay humble"
He's the most poised kid I've met, even in interview settings.
On Miami visit this past weekend: "I loved it, it brought back good memories."
Him and Chase Litton went to Miami when he was younger for camp.
Visited all Florida schools. Likes Georigia, Clemson and says he's going to visit USC and Clemson this summer.
He'll be at "The Opening" Nike camp in early July, then will visit USC and Stanford. On his way back, he's traveling to Ohio State, Michigan, Clemson, Georgia, Auburn, Alabama and then all the Florida schools again.

Vernon Hargreaves III will visit Ohio State

Ohio State already has the third- and fourth-ranked defensive backs in the nation from the ESPN 150 class of 2013 in Eli Woodard (Voorhees, NJ/Eastern) and Cam Burrows (Trotwood, Ohio/Trotwood-Madison), could there be a chance to grab No. 1?

The Buckeyes might find that out soon as Vernon Hargreaves III (Tampa, Fla./Wharton) plans on visiting Ohio State on July 16. Hargreaves is also the No. 4 ranked player in the country.

“Yes, that’s the plan,” his mother Jackie said in a phone conversation. “He said he will be there within the next two weeks.”
