DE Jaylahn (JT) Tuimoloau (Owner, Giant Erector Set, All B1G)

1. OHIO STATE BUCKEYES

Ohio State has been at or near the top of Tuimoloau's recruitment for over a year and they have 100% of the Crystal Ball votes.

I put in a Crystal Ball for the Buckeyes back in May of 2020, but at a confidence level of 1. Nothing has changed there — neither the low confidence score, nor the fact that the Buckeyes still sit on top, ever so slightly.

The Buckeyes' recent track record with pass-rushers (Chase Young, Joey Bosa and Nick Bosa) plus defensive line coach Larry Johnson's long history of defensive linemen is something that Tuimoloau acknowledged as a big reason for his interest in the Buckeyes.

They also have a familiar face on the roster in good friend and former Eastside Catholic teammate Gee Scott Jr., now a freshman receiver for the Buckeyes as well as signee Emeka Egbuka, the No. 2 prospect in Washington in the 2021 class.

The only thing the Buckeyes have lacked is the ability to get Tuimoloau on campus — he had planned to last spring, summer and fall, but that was obviously put on hold.

Still, Buckeye fans may have the most reason for hope for Tuimoloau.

Dang that's impressive... I've said it like 5 other times so excuse me for saying it yet again.

This kid is a must have. I don't typically feel that way about recruits but this guy is special.

Alabama recruits the LOS so well that in order to have the top end talent to equate things up front against them we absolutely have to land a kid like this.

These type of recruitments typically don't go well for OSU though unfortunately. Here's hoping this one goes to the good guys.

Sammamish (Wash.) Eastside Catholic defensive lineman J.T. Tuimoloau landed his second basketball offer this week.

Oregon offered Tuimoloau for basketball, with Ducks assistant coach Tony Stubblefield extending the offer.

"Coach Stubblefield offered J.T. for basketball," said his father, Ponce Faletoi.

That comes after Washington had offered Tuimoloau in May for basketball.

247Sports basketball analyst Brian Snow saw Tuimoloau on the AAU circuit, where Tuimoloau plays for famed Seattle program Seattle Rotary, and raved about him.

"What was absolutely freakish when watching Tuimoloau was his feet. I am not sure that I’ve ever seen a player who is 6-foot-5 and around 280 pounds have better feet on a basketball court than him," said Snow. "Even opposing players, who had no idea who he was, were amazed that Tuimoloau could switch ball screens keeping guards in front of him and the first step he had when driving the basketball."

During a recent episode of Late Kick with Josh Pate, 247Sports national recruiter editor Brandon Huffman went in depth on the latest recruiting news regarding Tuimoloau.

“I think the way he’s handled it has actually been really smart,” Huffman said. "I don’t think there was any need for him to rush into a decision. And honestly I’m surprised more top-tier recruits, guys that are highly coveted by everybody, don’t take a little bit longer, don’t maybe leverage things, do not sign an NLI but scholarship papers, an intent to enroll, whatever it may be. So that doesn’t surprise me. I think what surprises me now is that there is still the possibility they could wait until June, provided the NCAA does open recruiting up in the month of June and they end the dead period at the end of May. I couldn’t see them waiting until the middle of June to make a decision.

“He graduates the first week in June. Most of those guys are gonna be on campus by the end of June. And his high school basketball season, which is part of the reason he came back for the entire school year, will go until mid-June. So it’s unlikely he’ll even be able to take visits until his basketball season’s done. Most guys are already on campus, and at the latest, are already enrolled in June. So I’m kinda surprised they’re taking it all the way until June. I thought with the NCAA’s decision to extend the dead period to the end of May meant that they might get out on the road to visit Ohio State and Alabama, and they still might. But the possibility that they could wait until June, that does surprise me a little bit.”

I've read that JT might simply show up on the campus of his choice in June. The rest of us had to apply, wait, wait a bit longer, to receive our acceptance letter(s). Might want to dispatch one of tOSU drones to watch where his car goes when he graduates from HS. Hopefully he takes 80E drops down to 70E and glides into C'bus.

More to the point what highschool graduation is in June anyways? Classes ended in June for everything but seniors at my highschool which ended in early May and had a graduation the first or 2nd week of May.

Eastside Catholic's is......

June 1 - 4: Final Exams for Seniors

June 4: Baccalaureate Mass

June 7: Class of 2021 Graduation Ceremony

June 7: Grad Night 2021 TBD - depends on Washington State Roadmap to Recovery guidance. This event is parent-sponsored and encourages 100% student participation. Seniors will be picked up at Benaroya Hall after graduation. Buses will depart promptly at 10:30 p.m. The destination is a surprise, but a sweatshirt and closed-toed shoes are recommended. Buses will return to EC campus Tuesday, June 8 by 6:15 a.m. Parents should plan to pick up their student so they are not driving after being up all night. As a reminder, no cell phones, bags, large oversized jackets or backpacks will be allowed. More information will be forthcoming from the planning committee in the spring.
