WR Emeka Egbuka (All B1G, All-American)

Speed is always good in a WR. However, may I opine that the Belitnakof (sp?) award was named for a WR named Freddy Belitnakof. Remember him from the Raiders. He could run a 40 in two days, but as a route runner, and ability to 'get open' he was unparalleled. Kinda had to be to have the WR award named after him. As I recollect (not a Raider fan), he caught almost everything that came his way. Soooo, one might conclude that getting behind the DBs is important, but if you cannot catch the pass, what difference does it make. Agree with you LilBuck.....YAC is an important stat as well. A ten yard crossing route that is taken to the house is just as thrilling as an 80 yard pass catch.

Look I like ben victor, Austin Mack and kj hill. But all the other elite teams had us beat in the elite speed department. We had fast ish guys with mclaurin and Dixon but Buckeyes need burners at receiver and in two years wilson and olave will be gone... They need Emeka to pair with the big(and fast) guys like the freshman group this year. I’m also excited about another burner in Jameson Williams. Ohio state has also showed that a minimum of 5 guys will be deployed heavily year in and out. This guy could very well be key in putting the buckeye offense over the top in Possibly his first Season but surely his second. Welcome to Buckeye nation Mr. Egbuka

Sorry to slightly derail this thread, but what in sam Hill are you even talking about? #1 you don't need the speediest of WRs to win NCs or get drafted high. You need good to great hands and the ability to get open and get yards. The NFL is littered with guys who don't run 4.4 40s but have had long successful careers but having those 2 attributes (i.e. AJ Green, Larry Fitzgerald, Dez Bryant, Julian Edelman, etc). #2 Terry McLaurin ran a 4.3 at the nfl combine and Dixon ran a 4.41. That is fast for any football player! McLaurim ran as fast as Parris Campbell, and I'd bet that you'd think he was a burner! You're talking foolish

And to bring this back to Egbuka, he does have a great blend of size and speed, and the 2021 class seems to have more of a focus on size at WR and he could factor in the rotation as a frosh. And WR corps has become very diverse now, as we can line up big WRs to leap over DBs in Scott and Harris, speedster who can take the top off in Williams, Wilson and Cooper and all around talented WRs in Olave, Fleming, JSN. Harrison would fit into the 1st group and Ballard and Egbuka would fit in the later imo

Thats good for him. But his MBA is irrelevant to this convo, everyone knows that Gonzo is a Buckeye. Look up any sports site regarding him in the NFL and Ohio State is proudly shown. And he's also a representative in OH, im sure he has a lot of connections based on his playing days
