WR Emeka Egbuka (All B1G, All-American)

He doesn't need to and personally I don't think Hartline will ever have to use that excuse. Why?

Because he will always be in the position of his rooms being stocked with elite talent.

Hartline will sell that we dont have a 2 deep we have a 6-8 deep and if he comes in and works from day 1 that Emeka will have no problem seeing the field his first year.
Why? Because he's constantly negatively recruiting against us. Pretty sure since the Tressel days we've rarely resorted to that level of sleaziness. How do you know Hartline would do the same?
It's called recruiting! If you think that OSU coaches dont sling mud with the best of them then I'm sorry that wool is over your scarlet colored glasses. It's what coaches do! Fans were up in arms about the way that LJsr recruited when he was at Ped st, using race as a basis for recruiting and fans were appalled and shocked by how he used that against OSU. I don't hear a peep from 1 OSU fan now! Do you think his methods changed all of the sudden?
Hartline will(and should) do and say whatever he needs (right or wrong) to seal the deal with recruits. It happens guys. Sorry if I burst your bubble and you believe every program in the nation negatively recruits BUT OSU...

#1 wide receiver shouldn't be daunted by our depth chart.

Exactly, if Emeka comes here, he is going to play right away. If he just watches the last few years, you see freshman talent play at WR every year despite a daunting depth chart. Facts are facts. As far as Dabo, he can do whatever he wants, we just play our game and pitch our strengths.

So like, idgaf if they’re using that point against us. If OSU talks to him, they could just — you know — refute it and say, “nah, you’re good enough to play right away irrespective of depth.”

I can’t imagine it goes:

Egbuka: hey, Dabo said I might not see the field early due to your depth chart?

OSU coach: damn, he’s right Emeka. Never thought of that, sorry. That guy really has our number here. Maybe next time.

Oh for sure and I don't doubt for a second that we do this. Right now though theres a few position rooms where I dont think we use that particular excuse against teams when we recruit. WR, QB, DL and DB. Those 4 units I honestly believe we are telling kids that if you're elite you'll play early and to look at our track record.

Anyways back to Emeka... I really think he'll be a buckeye. I think Hartline and the Scott's will win out here (same to TJ).

Fully agreed!
And I can’t imagine how insane it will look with Egbuka on one side and Fleming on the other. And that talent to rotate without a drop off

I've seen many quotes over the years from recruits and hs coaches explicitly stating we don't do that going back to the Tressel days. Sure it probably has happened here and there but it clearly isn't a core principle of our recruiting philosophy. It does appear that way for slimeball Swinney

Yeah I think the same way... to me it seems like we focus on selling ourselves and not worrying about what others say.

Clemson seems to really lean on the negative recruiting side.

If I were the OSU coaches I turn it right around, and say “Maybe Dabo thinks our depth chart is too loaded for you, but we here at Ohio State believe you have what it takes to take the field straight from the start!” ...... Problem solved

If you really want to turn the tables. I’d ask some of these kids how they’re going to feel sitting down with their grandchildren to watch their Alma Mater go 5-7 most years. Once Dabo leaves, I don’t think rubbing some stupid rock is going to save that university.
