Warren Harding Video Feature

Year in and year out, Warren G. Harding is a mainstay at the top of the Ohio Division 1 rankings. Warren annually plays one of the nations toughest schedules, checking in with the nations 6th toughest one year ago. They have continuously been able to place top-notch football prospects at programs around the nation.

This again will be the case for the upcoming recruiting season, as defensive tackle Tony Reed is currently drawing interest from the likes of Ohio State, Virginia, Michigan, and Pittsburgh.

The ’07 recruiting class for the Warren Raiders is shaping up to be real special. They may boast the states best running back in Dan “Boom” Herron.. Warren will also be pumping out some D1 talent on the defensive side of the ball as well, in prospects Sidney Glover (LB/S), David Harsch (LB) and Marlin Parker (DE/LB).

Buckeyeplanet in accordance with Sunshine Preps is able to bring you the first look at these fine Ohio prospects.

’06:

Tony Reed Video:

Defensive tackle Tony Reed will certainly make a splash at the next level. Checking in at (6’1, 285), Reed is a run stuffing force in the middle of the field. He also plays the game with a great motor. He has good technique on the swim move, and shows the presence of mind to absolutely plant a running back, while coming off a very nimble spin move. It is just not natural to see a man of Reed’s size be that light of foot. On film, Reed is probably the most impressive defensive tackle in the state.

’07:

Dan Herron Video:

It looks like there will be a good number of players vying to be rated as the states top back for the ’07 recruiting year. At the top of that list may be “Boom” Herron. “Boom” was forced into action last season when an injury de-railed the Raiders starting back. He made the best of that opportunity. As the season developed, so did Herron’s confidence. He was able to show the explosion that separates a good back from a great one. He is a tough hard-nosed runner that will twist and grind for every inch.

Sidney Glover Video (coming soon…):

Glover is a tough and quick defender. He shows his toughness when he disrupts the action in the middle, and his speed when he tracks down guys trying to get outside on the edge. He could be a good safety at the next level, but being only a sophomore he could grow into a no doubter at linebacker. He has already proven himself, at the highest competition level in the state, and figures to be a highly regarded recruit.

David Harsch Video (coming soon…):

Anyone with a television set could have seen that against the big names of St. Eds and Glenville, Harsch more often than not was the name the announcers called when a tackle was made. Harsch is one of those players that just has a nose for the ball. It was hard to gauge his speed as it was mostly lateral movement, and he may not have yet earned enough stripes to be given free reign with any kind of a blitz package. Harsch is another tough and well-schooled ball player from the stables of Coach McDaniels.

Marlin Parker Video (coming soon…):

Parker looks good as an off the edge pass rusher, and also has the ability to pursue down the line against the run. He made solid plays when matched up against some of the bigger names in Division 1. Playing exclusively as an edge rusher as a sophomore, Parker may see some snaps at MLB this season. He may be undersized right now ( both of his parents are tall), but tell that to Anthony Hoke, who at 6'1, 230 was named to the Conference USA All Freshman team as a DE for UC this past season.

All I can say is that WGH is ready. The players mentioned above are definitely leaders on the team, but there are many more solid players on the 2005 roster. The 07 class is absolutely loaded, and I'm not just talking about the players mentioned above. WGH rarely plays sophomores, and these young men showed a lot last season. They have been working hard all offseason and only time will tell how good they will be.
