First of all, happy belated birthday, Nutty :)

Second of all, is your nephew adopted? j/k of course.

That's a tough question. On one hand, as a flesh and blood relative, you're pretty much obligated to treat him with love and kindness, and yet on the other hand, such an aggregious (sp?) act cannot be simply laughed off. I think you did indeed do the right thing by demonstrating that your allegience to the Buckeyes isn't a laughing matter, nor is it anything to trifle with.

Okay, now I have a little confession to make. My eldest brother (8 yrs my senior) went to graduate school at scUM. I know, it's a dirty family secret best kept in the dark, but as you can imagine, it has caused some, well, difficulties in the family. In fact, my older brother (5 yrs my senior) went to tOSU, so at least we have the eldest outnumbered (plus, both my folks love the Bucks). The rediculous thing is, he seemed to be a Buckeye through and through growing up, as our grandfather graduated tOSU in 1918 and instilled the Buckeye spirit in all of us. However, once he set foot in AA, he was never quite the same. He taunted us throughout the 90s while Cooper continually choked in the Big Game, and he evetually would say 'its not even a rivalry anymore'.

Now, I love my brother dearly but I've come to the realization that my love for him is limited to 364 days out of the year. In fact, this past Christmas, when we were all together, we didn't even mention The Game. It's not even polite conversation at our house anymore. So, Nutty, I guess what I'm trying to say is that if your nephew is truely a scUM fan (and it's not some silly youthful phase), then you're relationship with him will always change a little in the fall. Not that there's anything wrong with that. :p

Thanks, FCollins. Very sorry to hear about your brother :wink2:

Ny nephew is just like my brother-in-law. They are scUM fans but not so much because they like the team, they just like to harrass Buckeye fans. I doubt either one of them could name 5 players on the weasel roster. I actually asked my nephew to name 5 once and he said "Chris Perry, John Navarre and that Edwards dude." That makes the shit he talks even worse. It's bad enough to get ribbed by an actual scUM fan but to hear from it someone who's sole purpose is to see how bad they can piss you off infuriates me. We do get along 99% of the time but that 1% leaves a sour taste in my mouth.

Ughh! That's the worst kind! :mad2:

I know a few people who don't even admit to being a fan of any team, but they sure love to raz me when the Bucks stumble. The same people were verbally taunting my friend who's a HUGE BoSox fan after they lost to the spankees last fall. Spineless bastards! :pissed:

One of my favorite things to see is when, on the news or Cops, etc., you see white-trash scum, ghetto 'bangers and thugs, and others w/o a clue, they are almost invariably wearing scUM gear. I have never seen a Block O in this context. Maybe we're just not cool enough...

If he was just playing then you were wrong but if he did it to piss you off well then he deserved it. Just depends on what kind of kid he is and what his intent was.

This is the same kid who called me after the scUM game to tell me how bad the Buckeyes suck. He's a decent kid otherwise but he's definitely a smart ass and his intention was to piss me off. I probably should have taken the high road but I just couldn't do it.

How would you have treated your own kid? That's how I judge my actions with my niece and nephew, who are coddled and spoiled and have less than half the brains of my two. If I would chew my older daughter out, then they get the same treatment, or less, actually. That way, as far as I'm concerned, anyway, the in-laws can't say anything to me.

Is he actually a blood relative, or is he a nephew by marraige? It makes a little difference. Personally though, no one in my family is that stupid. I will agree though that the ones that root for Blue just to get a rise out of people are the worst.

If patricide is killing your father, and fratricide (sp?) is killing you brother, what is it when you kill your nephew?

In this case, punkicide.

At first, I think maybe BN was out of line, but reading all the posts, screw it, the kid had it coming. It was clear that the kid did it not out of humor but rather to be a smart ass and to get BN's gall. Being a nephew doesn't give you the right to punk your uncle without repercussion.

He's my sister's son. He's a bright kid but his father converted him to the dark side long ago. I've tried to bring him back to the good side but it's pointless. I guess you could say he and my brother-in-law are the tibors of my family.

How the hell could you let your sister marry a scum fan anyway?!?!? I say when he turns 16 you offer to buy him a car, go get a hooptie and paint it all up in the scarlet and grey. Stencil the block O all over it and say "here ya go". Just don't tell him about the paint job until he sees it.
