Washington vs. Ohio State Sunday 4:30 PM ESPN2

So Washington beat Seton Hall in OT to earn the right to play OSU. Washington has already lost a game, to Albany, which made me expect that they would lose to Seton Hall. But they jumped on Seton Hall in the first half and in OT.

This should be an interesting game for OSU.

• Matchup to watch: Ohio State fought hard for 22 points in the paint and a 10-rebound edge against Rhode Island. Washington will be a much taller order, especially 7-foot center Aziz N’Diaye from Senegal. He had 37 points, 36 rebounds and five blocked shots in Washington’s first three games. The Buckeyes will need to make perimeter shots.

• Notable: This is the first game between Ohio State and Washington since Dec.1, 1972, when the Huskies won the season opener in Seattle. . . . Washington advanced to the championship game by defeating Seton Hall 84-73 in overtime last night. . . . The Huskies lost by one point at home to Albany two days after Albany lost at Ohio State by 22. . . . Washington played six games this summer on a tour of Spain, France, Monaco and Senegal.

• Next: Missouri-Kansas City, 6 p.m. Friday, Value City Arena

I was wondering when the last time OSU and Washington had played, as I couldn't remember them playing. 1972 is too long ago - there are not that many power conference programs that you should "miss" a team for 40 years. I guess that's what happens when over half the OOC schedule is cupcakes every year.

They almost played in November 2007 but OSU beat Syracuse and Washington lost to Texas A&M in the preseason NIT. As a side note, Scoop Jardine suited up for Syracuse against OSU (and Washington) in that 2007 preseason NIT and he also played against the Buckeyes in the 2012 Elite 8, but of course the analysts weren't all over him for being in college for such a long time like they were with David Lighty.

OSU up 41-31 at the half.

I like the lead, of course, but I'm going to need some convincing over the next few months to believe we have a top 5 team this season.

All we can do is win today. Let's do it. :osu:

Good performance from the Buckeyes the first half. Obviously it helps when DT is on fire offensively. Defensively they got off to a mediocre start, letting Washington get a lot of good looks, but heated up as the half wore on and that's what helped build the lead even as DT cooled off towards the end of the half. I like what I've seen of Scott so far this year - he's a keeper for sure. Ravenel a mixed bag, but making some hustle plays out there which is what OSU needs out of him.
