Just.... No.

Here you go. The band won't kill you, but the watch will set you back 25K*.

So, when I think I might have more than enough NATO straps, I just discovered this company. They have a line that's based upon various WW2 (and a couple other) camouflage schemes. I won't post every one, but here's a few:

The camo pattern for Navy carrier planes in the Pacific

The invasion stripes that aircraft wore during D-Day

And about 10 more.

And now, the "money shots"

That last one is kinda' cool in that it looks like the stripe on the helmet. I asked about a strap with buckeye leaves on it, but no one could decide if they were green or black.

Here's that "scuba strap"

It's on a stretchier band, and fits really snug (I hate things rattling around on my wrists)... but it's a real PITA to change out (in comparison with the classic NATOs).

So, TLDR version- BP is the best, @ORD_Buckeye is amazing, I now know what time it is, and both my grandfather's military legacy and the Buckeyes are being proudly represented on the north side of Seattle.

So, how's your first month as a watch guy working out? Getting the bug to expand the herd?

Learning how to show it off with the you got some splainin' to do" move.

Going really well (even if it's about 17 seconds fast per day...)
People have mostly noticed the straps... including when I wore the Buckeye Bond one to celebrate the B1G return to football.
Started looking for a bit dressier option now.... dammit. Like I needed another hobby :)
.
17's not bad for 200 clams. The watch might regulate itself a bit after a couple of months. That same movement in my Orange Seiko and Islander has run within 5/day if I wear it every day for a week.

The virus has effected the global luxury markets somewhat making an opportunity to negotiate a better deal on luxury goods. If you have the cash.

Yeah, it's definitely a buyer's market. I'm kind of curious what kind of discount I would get now at an authorized dealer that isn't an Omega boutique. I made the play to get the relationship with the boutique in anticipation of the 50th anniversary Apollo 13 special edition, which has been postponed and I wouldn't be buying right now until the world de-asses its head in any event. On a brighter note, Brit shirtmaker Thomas Pink had a going out of business fire sale on the web, and I picked up 2 dress shirts, a made in UK cashmere sweater and a made in Como, Italy Grenadine tie for $200 against a normal price for the lot of an even grand.
