Week 10 CFB Open Thread

Michigan is just a 3 point favorite at IU this weekend. It's bizarre that IU is actually ranked 10 spots higher than UM. Crazy times.

Michigan has struggled beating ranked teams on the road but this is a must win game for Harbaugh. He might be coaching for his job, assuming his fate isn't already sealed. If Indiana wins, Tom Allen might get hired away by a bigger program.

High stakes in this game.

Just sayin': I have no idea what his current buyout would be; however, (he might have been under his original contract but) I don't think Allen is really interested in another job now. What he said when he signed a new 7 year ($27.4M) contract with Indiana last year:

"I am humbled and thankful that President McRobbie and Mr. Glass continue to believe in our staff and the winning culture that we are creating," Allen said. "I love our staff and appreciate their tireless efforts as we continue to build this program into a winner, the right way.

"Thank you to Indiana University, our fans, the Bloomington community and all of Hoosier Nation for their support. I am so appreciative of the young men who represent IU in such a first-class manner. We have a tremendous group of players, I am proud to be their head coach, and I am 100-percent committed to their success on the field, in the classroom and in life.’'

Allen is a New Castle native who was a successful high school coach in both Florida and Indiana before joining the college ranks. He was a defensive coordinator at the University of South Florida before he was hired for the same position at Indiana in 2016. At the end of the 2016 season, coach Kevin Wilson was fired and Allen was promoted to head coach.

"It's no secret Indiana University is a special place to me,'' Allen said. "I was born a Hoosier, raised a Hoosier and I am thrilled with the opportunity to remain a Hoosier for a long, long time to come."

AND

Allen was asked Sunday if he could have ever imagined signing a contract like this one when he first got into college coaching. He thought about his wife, a school teacher, who was the main breadwinner then.

“She had to get a new job every time we moved, and that was seven moves in 10 years,” Allen said. “She was the one that had the brunt of that, you know? She had to get a new job every year, because she was making more than I was, you know, at most of those places.

“You knew hopefully, one day, you would have a chance to make a little bit more. But to say that I would ever dream of that, think of that? No. It was really beyond my wildest dreams, to be honest with you.”

IU is the better team.

I see IU getting blown out. They gave up 488 yards to PSU and only managed 211 yards of offense. This seems like kind of game where UM will be able to pound out a 35-10 kind of win.

I was thinking Indiana pulls a Indiana and gives false hope early, then shits the bed late and loses like 34-28
