Week 10 CFB Open Thread

Was Rutgers REALLY that competitive though?

Ohio STate lacked intensity and motivation in the 2nd half sure. That's a problem and the coaches are paid to fix that problem.

If teams are going to try to survive against Ohio STate by doing throw back laterals to offensive tackles, triple decker reverse passes on punts and kickoffs and fake fumbled snap plays, I think Ohio STate will be ok

Who do you think you are, @BuckeyeNation27? There's no special prize for disagreeing with me, at least none I've ever heard. I'll tell you the same thing I told that genius.

Ohio State has never beaten Rutgers by less than 35 points and they didn't give up 4 TDs in a half. But you rationalize it and pretend it means nothing. We're just waiting for the big boys. Okay...I hope you guys are right. But pardon me if I hope the team improves, since I don't think either of you really know WTF you're talking about.

Yeah. It was an absolute shit second half, but Rutgers was dialing up every backyard trick play they had and Schiano has a little familiarity with Ohio State.

every team is potentially fatally flawed this season, so I’m not sweating anything too much. Then of course, I’ve never been a “NC or bust” fan. Do I like winning NCs? Fuck yeah, but I also never going into a season expecting one or feeling like if we don’t win one the season is a bust. Give me a win over scUM and a B1G title and I’m pretty content. NCs will come when they come...and they will.

I think Rutger at least has a higher drive this season. No excuse but they are more competent than the past few years. (though that’s not saying much)

This is a year where a win is really a win with how it’s gone for some

DUMB GAMES: HARBAUGH AND FRANKLIN HAVE SOME MAJOR PROBLEMS, BRIAN KELLY HANDS DABO A DEFEAT IN SOUTH BEND

117939_h_0.jpg

Jim Harbaugh and James Franklin have seen better days.

Another Saturday is in the books, folks. Was Ohio State's performance particularly encouraging? Absolutely not. And the defense's second-half efforts probably left plenty of people shaking their heads. The Buckeyes also missed an opportunity to give C.J. Stroud and/or Jack Miller some needed experience against an inferior opponent.

The good news? Justin Fields is playing out of his mind right now and Ryan Day's passing attack is a real sight to behold. Ohio State's sitting at 3-0 on the season and remains in prime position to snatch one of the four playoff spots.

The biggest story of the weekend was probably the Pac-12 making its 2020 debut. However, it was overshadowed by Jim Harbaugh and James Franklin's embarrassing performances as well as the top-ranked Tigers falling on the road.

NO. 13 INDIANA 38, NO. 23 MICHIGAN 21
When Ohio State traveled to Bloomington for the 2017 opener, true freshman J.K. Dobbins rushed for 14 yards on the Buckeyes' first two drives. In yesterday's action, Hassan Haskins, Chris Evans, Blake Corum, and the rest of the Wolverine team ran for just 13 yards in the entire game. What does 2017 have to do with 2020? Not a damn thing. I just felt like making fun of Michigan for being really bad at football.

MARYLAND 35, PENN STATE 19
Congratulations if you saw this one coming because I certainly did not. I didn't expect Penn State to blow the Terps out of the water, but I figured James Franklin would at least come away with a home win. Instead, the Nittany Lions looked absolutely atrocious as they moved to 0-3 on the season.

It autocorrects on my phone for some reason

Too lazy to go back and edit
I've noticed that there are some morons on Columbus sports radio who have taken to calling them "Rutger" and I don't know why. They do it consistently and certainly can't blame it on autocorrect. It's not an insult to Rutgers to call them Rutger. It just makes the speaker sound dumb.

I can type Rutgers and it doesn't get changed to Rutger by autocorrect. I invite everyone reading this to test that on their own mobile device.

I'll take your word for it. Who knows, maybe you're a big Blade Runner fan. But maybe proofread your posts for spelling errors in the future. It's just weird because, given the idiots on the local radio who've taken to calling them Rutger, it has the appearance of a movement and I can't see any sense in it.
