Week 16 CFB Open Thread

Here’s what needs to happen for maximum ESPN blowup/call your doctor after 4 hours:

We take care of business handily (no stretch)
Iowa hangs 50 on Hairball (not really a stretch)
Notre Dame beats Clemson (very possible)
Florida somehow beats Alabama (stretch Armstrong)

Why? Because then imagine the hand-wringing:

Ohio State coasts in at #2

You have not 1, but 2 SEC teams who didn’t win their own conference saying they should make the playoff with 1 loss

You have Florida with last weeks loss and 2 total claiming they should because they won the SEC

You have Dabo the Bitchtwinkie whining that not winning your conference and losing to the same team twice should somehow put them in the playoff

You have Ohios BCS team undefeated saying they should make it

You possibly have undefeated USC who didn’t beat anybody of note saying they should too

I don’t think it matters for Clemson...if they lose with Italian Soccer Barbie this time, the effect will be the same at any score

As for Bammer, I think the only way Florida really makes a case is if they destroy them, but of course that will never happen

So with the whos down with covid again, the geniuses from state penn have figured out they were robbed.
We have a de jure claim on the B1G East championship as of today
Under the original rules of the season, as this recent rule change is unlawful and a SHAM, OSU is not eligible for having played less than 6 games. Indiana had to cancel this weekend due to COVID. And Maryland also has less than 6 games played, meaning we are the rightful heir to the B1G East title and an appearance in the championship game against Northwestern.

Wouldn't that have put Penn State next in line for the East Division before the b1g caved to OSU? Penn State should be rightfully playing in the Big Ten Championship game if this league had a spine. Screwed again.

Indiana vs Purdue canceled. Under B1G's original rules, that sends Penn State to the B1G title game. Instead, B1G changes rules, sends OSU to B1G CG

Regardless of who we feel is the best team in the conference, let us document this as the 409th time that the Big Ten changed its rules at the expense of Penn State.

Standings going into last week:

How great would it have been to start 0-5 and somehow end the season as Big Ten Champs? Would have been a nice springboard for recruiting as well as our 2021 season. Instead, OSU benefits. Again.

Indiana-Purdue canceled. All that national media angst for nothing, as Indiana wouldn't be able to play in the Big Ten Title game anyway...
Seems like they should have just gone down the standings and selected 3-5 Penn State.

I mentioned a scenario yesterday in which 0-8 Penn State would have been the East representative under the original, ludicrous 6-game rule.

Actually, under the original rule, Indiana would have been selected to play NW’ern.

And based on what the B1G clarified earlier this week, the Indiana Covid situation would have resulted in a cancelled CCG, with NW’ern and Indiana being declared co-champions.

But allowing the Pedsters to think their 3-5 team was denied an appearance in the CCG because the conference did its bidding for tOSU, that has some entertainment value.

Night game @ kinick in dec? Something tells me the b1g thinks tsun are cowards too. I'm not aware of any team having covid issues so bad they missed 3 straight games, so either tsun shows up for an ice cold plunger party or admit they're the worst at handling covid.

World record:
From, "We'll play anyone, anyplace," to "We'll cancel anyone, anyplace." in under 30 seconds.

I mean we're getting pretty close now to having enough games cancelled that the original stupid rule of 6 games would have changed anyway aren't we?
It would have taken 18 games. The count was at 10 after last week. This week’s games weren’t meant to be included in the calculation, but even if they were all cancelled, it would only bump the total to 17.
