Welcome to the Big Ten, Nebraska fans!

Could Nebraska go 12-0 this year?

Nebraska had a coming-out season in 2008 (9-4) and improved on it in 2009 (10-4).
Last year's team beat Oklahoma and lost a 13-12 thriller to Texas in the conference championship game. They finished the season with a 33-0 win over Arizona in the Holiday Bowl.
The player that will be most missed is everyone's All-American defensive lineman Ndamukong Suh.
The Cornhuskers bring enough players back on defense and 10 starters back from last year's offensive squad to make another jump in 2010.
The schedule works in their favor because they don't play Oklahoma this year, and they get Texas in Lincoln.
This team is a consensus preseason top 10 pick, and if they can get by Texas, they have a shot to go 12-0.

I'm surprised how little love they're getting from pre-season rankings. I really think they have just a good of shot as anyone else at winning the conference this year. That would be epic. Followed by a Big Ten chant.

Shatel: Under Delany, Big Ten football takes a backseat

Four years ago, Jim Delany walked through that door. And everything changed.

Ah, memories. The Big 12 meetings in Kansas City. The story floated out of Texas, about the six schools bolting for the Pac-12. Panic. Urgency. A regents meeting. Then a press conference at the NU student center.

Then the man walked through the door, offering refuge, offering a future. Stability.

Interesting word, stability.

Nebraska was leaving the chaos of the Big 12 as much as it was joining the safe haven of the Big Ten. But what exactly was it joining?
.
.
.
Then again, this isn’t about me or you. Soon, each Big Ten school will clear an estimated $44 million each year.

What's this Nebraska writer whining about the B1G for? His real issue/problem/complaint here is that the Nebraska's football hasn't been that dominate in the B1G. Maybe Nebraska should put more of that $44M into their football recruiting budget and try to get some better players.

Let the 'Spurrier to Nebraska' rumors begin!

IS STEVE SPURRIER REPLACING MIKE RILEY AT NEBRASKA?

No, probably not.

While Spurrier's in Lincoln at the invite of Eichorst, it's because the two used to work together when Eichorst was at South Carolina as an associate athletic director, and worked with the football program from 2004 to 2006. He knew that Spurrier had never been to a game in Lincoln, so when the Head Ball Coach stepped down from his gig with the Gamecocks, Eichorst extended the invitation.
