West Virginia/JUCO/C.W. Post/Kean RB Jason Gwaltney (official thread)

Gwaltney says he could be a Buckeye

Don't let the title of the newest Gwaltney article fool you...he is still taking more visits and won't be announcing his decision until January 15th. But he did reiterate that tOSU is in serious contention for his services for all the reasons Buckskin86 listed above. He is going to visit Central Florida on December 3rd and take an official to WVU on January 7th. Visits to Michigan State and USCum might not happen, which can only be a good thing for us.

I don't want to read too much into what Gwaltney has been saying but I can't help but wonder something...if he's committed to West Virginia still, like he's been saying, would he really need to announce that he's sticking with the Mountaineers at the AA game?

Another related Insiders premium update shows that Scooter Berry (brother of Gwaltney and package deal to WVU) is also rethinking his WVU commitment.

No reason to go to WVU if Jason is not going, right?? I was concerned about this but it seems like they are ok about going to different schools. Another very good sign. :)
Hey we could always use a big fullback to bust open holes for those quality running backs. Send that christmas package our way!

Princeton is certainly an excellent acedemic institution but I've never understood why so many schools model their helmets after them.
just a remote wild guess... Princeton & Rutgers played the very first college football game (at Rutgers)... so maybe they view it as tradition?? still looks shitty.. but what makes it even worse is that often, the same teams that have this yuk helmets complement them with matching yuk uniforms

According to the first page of this thread, he's listed anywhere from 4.45 to 4.6. Certainly not a burner, but that's not his style. At 235 pounds with great power and decent speed, he reminds me of another freshmen RB we had a few years back. It'd be AWESOME if we could get Gwaltney and, from the sounds of his visit, I think it's gonna happen.

Insiders has an update on his visit and it's VERY positive!
I just wonder how fast he is in pads. It's one thing to be fast in shorts and a t-shirt, but some kids just keep their speed when they put on the pads. Rudi Johnson is supposedly not fast but he sure seems to run away from people when he breaks out in the open.

I hope we get either Stewart and Gwaltney, and Ringer or Wells. For whatever reason I am hoping we get Ringer and one of the big boys.

Gwaltney had a great time at tOSU, the facilities, stadium and fans really stood out for him. He also mentioned liking the coaches and academics at tOSU.

He will make official visits to Central Florida, USC (he likes what they have done with Jarrett and the coaches having been showing him alot of interest)and WVU (he and his dad have followed them since the Amos Zereoue days-plus they showed interest in him first). It sounds like it could come down to the last week before the AA game before he makes a decision.

The deciding factors will be coaching staffs (how he gets along with them) and education (he wants to be a criminal justice major).

He knows that tOSU needs a big back and that could be a deciding factor for him. He said that Ohio State will be in it up until the end.

Well my wife graduated from Ohio State with a degree in Criminology so I know they have that curriculum. If he looks at the depth charts for RB's; he's gotta be excited about Ohio State. Top that off with this Grade A, top of the line Offensive line coming in next year and he's gotta be even more excited about the potential at OSU. He sure would be a great addition to the OSU family.
