What are you currently watching on TV?

Defenders. Moves way too slow for a miniseries for my taste, especially if it really is a one-off. The amount of backstory is huge, comparatively, and it is very good, just fit for a multi-season series instead of an 8 episode miniseries. 5 episodes in so far.

david fincher (se7en, zodiac, girl with the dragon tattoo, etc.) directed the first two episodes of a netflix original titled mindhunter (10/13 release), which is about the fbi profiling serial killers. so, yeah, this should be kinda good.

mindhunter. excellent. not quite as gritty or creepy as i was hoping a fincher product to be, especially after the opening scene, but the first season satisfied most expectations. outstanding development of a storyline that sets up what should be a knockout season two. actress who played debbie was stiff, but the performances overall were solid. kemper was great and hoped to see more of him, though the actor's affect was a little thick (watch the real murderer's interviews on youtube). would be cool if kemper is lecter to holden and tench's starling in the second season. tench was perfect. good range from serious to comedic. anna torv (dr. carr) is hot.

ending was a little anti-climactic. payoff with btk could have been greater. was nice to see holden get some comeuppance, though. his ego needed to be hobbled.

For a terrible as The Mist was (and it was some kind of deadful), Mr Mercedes is one of the best television adaptions of a Stephen King novel. Fairly true to the book and very well done. Unfortunately, it was on Audience, so likely very few people got to watch it. If you can, do. Gleason and Treadaway both nailed it and even the side characters were excellent.

Have you watched Gerald's Game? Pretty faithful adaptation. Creepy as fuck.
