So, final thoughts on True Detective 3. It was like watching an acting master class, both positively and negatively. There was some fantastic acting, but I didn't tune in for that. I watched for at least above-average acting in a compelling story. I got some fantastic acting and a story that made me kick myself in the balls every Sunday night for going back again. It reminded me of Joyce's Ulysses; except that I've been able to stop reading it three times which, of course, compels the question of why I keep picking it up again. You're watching and it's not crap, in fact, you're thinking, wow, this is really good, except that you know it's not and that you just can't manage to care about it.

We're a few episodes behind, but we'll see it through and I'll likely have the same impression.

"Mr Mercedes" On Audience on Demand. Another Stephen King "clown" killer mini series. It's first 2 years are out there for binge watching. It's slow but you can fast forward through the slow parts.

Whaaat? I thought it wrapped up last year with the Hartsfield story line. I didn't even know there was a 3rd season coming.

Barry on HBO has been pulling some twists this season - not flipping the show on its head just for shock value, but revealing explosive elements of some characters' back-stories that had been hidden and really make you see their actions in a different light. And outside of the main few, this show is not afraid to kill off a character with hardly any warning. Bill Hader and Stephen Root are giving us the blackest of black comedy, but this is a funny and emotional show, one of the best on TV right now.
