Goodness was this miniseries absolutely magnificent. IMMEDIATELY goes into the ‘Essential’ collection to watch for any TV-goer.

I've always enjoyed Billions, but have been cooling on it this season. Largely due to this clown:

His continued presence devalues the entire show.

I think that's kind of the point of him ... :slappy:

I do think that the show probably jumped the shark when it went away from the central theme of Axe and Chuck at odds with Wendy in the middle, although I admire the risk that was taken in doing so and keeping the show from just repeating itself. If it hasn't yet jumped the shark, the other issue is that I think the show runners are falling into the familiar trap (e.g., Boardwalk Empire) of thinking that they have to get more and more outrageous in documenting the moral decline of all of the characters. Besides the casting, I've always thought that the strongest element of the show has been the ability of the writers to yo yo viewers with the major characters so that just when you think a character is OK, he or she does something truly awful and just when you think a character is irredeemable, they do something to pull you back into rooting for them (at least a little bit). The first two seasons were mostly about documenting the moral decline of Chuck and Axe (they used to at least try to justify their behavior), season three was about doing the same for Wendy, Taylor, and Connerty, and now everyone is just getting more and more depraved (perhaps they're trying to rehumanize Axe with his new girlfriend). At this point, at least for me, the yo yo ing isn't working nearly as well because it's becoming increasingly difficult to have any sympathy for any of the major characters. And I suspect that the show will not end happily for any of the major characters. Still, gold like the line I posted from Wags will keep me coming back until it's wrapped up, which I suspect will be in one more season.

Wife’s watching Revenge on Hulu. Nobody watch it. Like a prime time soap opera with both, endless dramatic music and shitty acting.

She wants me to sit and watch it with her and compared it to Breaking Bad. I’m contacting an attorney tomorrow.

Working my way through Fargo. The Peter and the Wolf opening to ep 3.4 is simply brilliant.

Moving around between that, Stranger Things, and some Doctor Who from a few years back.

amc hit a grand slam with breaking bad, better call saul, mad men, and halt and catch fire.
