What do you love about OSU football?

One of my favorite moments is right after the band does script ohio and the member has just dotted the i and the whole bands start marching in place and they start singing The Ohio State Fight Song which ends in all the members of the band taking off their hats in salute to the fans, followed by the loud roar of the crowd. God damn I love Ohio State Football!

Great Thread...This is getting me pumped reading all these. One of mine is when the whole team first comes out for drills about an hour before kickoff. The team gathers in the endzone by the south stands where they all lock arms and slowly move together walking as a team. While this is going on the intro to ACDC's "hell's bells" is blasting out of the stadium speakers, and the team slowly turns to the closed end of the shoe, getting psyched waiting to take the field, before breaking all at once when the hells bells intro finishes and running out to their respective unit drills. If you've never seen this before, go early to the stadium and watch it...its worth it.

The ritual of anticipation for TBDBITL to enter the Stadium, Then, their appearance and sound brings goose bumps. The band moves and plays as one organism of white on black with scarlet markings. The brass chimes, Alma Mater, The Fight Song in quick cadence...the tradition never ends.

By the time the TEAM enters from the tunnel, I'm pumped maximus gigantica!

During the week actually, playing tennis after work outside Larkins Hall with the stadium a few hundred yards away as a backdrop and the band rehearsing between us and the stadium. Nothing like serving to "Le Regiment". Made all the torture of grad school go away in an instant.

as great as the first game is, even better is a game in late october/november...50 degree weather with the leaves changing and a brisk breeze in the air...the sound of small planes/helicopters in the sky....the late 3:30 start and the feeling of anticipation in the air as you realize in a few hours you won't have a care in the world about anything else.

Tibor, That's almost human........I'm impressed.

The tradition we have as a university, and more specifically, a football team is incredible. Very, very few places can claim to have what we've got.

I love watching Brutus and the cheerleaders, with the O-H-I-O flags, as they run onto the field and the team follows right behind them. That first sight of the team, charging onto the field, getting all pumped up to play, is one of the biggest moments of the afternoon.

I also love hearing the victory bell ring after a Buckeye win.

And somebody mentioned "Carmen, Ohio"- if I'm in the stadium and the band plays it, with everybody singing along, I get choked up with pride every single time.

Sounds like we're all ready for some BUCKEYE FOOTBALL!!!

For me, all of the traditions that have been mentioned so far taken together is what I truly love about OSU football! While each one can give me goose bumps and a tingle down the back, there are 3 that really get to me. The band entering the field. (Does anyone else come close?); Script Ohio (This one really took on a different meaning after sitting in C deck and watching Woody dot the 'i'.); and the team singing Carmen Ohio (For me, this new tradition signifies that even though the Buckeye Nation is large in numbers, we are all close like a family). The other thing I love about OSU football is sharing all of the great traditions with my two sons and watching them learn about the traditions as they embark on their life-long love affair of OSU.
