What do you love about OSU football?

It's all good

I will always love when the band comes around in the third quarter playing at the different entrances to the stadium. That will always remind me of a special time sharing my love of OSU with my daughter.

when the band comes through the tunnel it gives me goose bumps, because i know its about to happen!!

also the passion of our fans arguing with other schools fans on who is better!!!
Speaking of our Band and our fan's passion. Have you ever seen another school who supports the band as much as our fans do? Every half time the stadium remains practically full while our band is marching!
That also makes me proud to be a buckeye. (ohhh another thread idea for the future!)

GO BUCKS!

The atmoshpere... plain and simple. Nothing compares to Columbus on a fall Saturday afternnon. I went to many games with my dad growing up and I plan on doing the same with my kids. Not one thing stands out to me... it's the whole package.

Great thread!

My favorite moment has always been when the team finally runs on the field. The silver helmets shining under the early afternoon sun. The players jumping up and down, unable to control their excitement. You can feel the studium moving under your feet as the crowd roars. Then the chants of O-H-I-O circling the Horseshoe make you feel proud of not just a team, or a university, but of the entire state, for these are Ohio's children. From the shores of the great lake, to the banks of our great river. From the foothills to the fertile lands of the west. Ohio's children come together as one to run with the ghosts of Ohio's glorious past.
hahaha

Sorry, it's hard for me not to get melodramatic. Now where's my beer and chilidog?

:oh: :io:

Flying my OSU banners on each side of the garage, as I play my "TBDBITL" CD for all my neighbors to hear on saturday morning. And wearing my "Woody" cap at the golf course to piss off all the Miami fans here in J-ville. I hope it just keeps on getting better and better.

This post is great! One thing?, you cant just mention one thing about OSU Football, it's the smell of tailgaters cooking up their best contraption, the buckeye necklaces, Its ESPN Gameday on campus. 105,000 strangers in the stadium plus thousands outside becoming best friends, its TBDBITL, its saluting "THE SHOE" as you approach, The Skull Session, Shopping for the newest OSU appareal, Its the elbow to elbow crowds at Hieney Gate, Script OHIO, Block "O", & Hells Bells. It's the tunnel entrance, the roaring crowd and the endzone march. Its the sea of Scarlet & Gray chanting O-H-I-O. It's OSU's defense stopping another drive and the offense squeaking in a score. It's the feeling of a WIN! It's Carmen Ohio in the endzone. It's the discussions of the game and the next opponent during the drive home. It's the dream that you wish you could clad your head with that silver helmet and join your favorite team in their next endeavor. And it's alot more, but as a huge fan to love just one thing about tOSU then I dont know if I could call myself a fan.

:oh: :io: :osu2:

Day 2: Another thing I love about Ohio State

I love being in a tight game and seeing Jim Tressel on the sidelines. When I look at him I know our team is in great hands and if there is ANY possibility to win the game, Jim Tressel will find a way. He never looks lost, confused, or beaten.

We have the greatest coach in the nation!

First- Great responses from everyone...

Second- Great Thread-- I'm about to break the 'one thing' rule.

Of course I'm not alone on this, but the best thing for me about Ohio State Football is the time I get to spend with my Friends watching the game... For me, and I'm sure that many of you have similar experiences with your families and who ever you're close to... but everyone is busy with their jobs and whatever else, and I get frustrated that you don't get to spend time with your college pals and whoever else... but Ohio State football is such an event every week during the season that you almost have to reserve that time to share it with others.... and we do... every week... you get to share a meal and maybe go out after the game and do all kinds of stuff that without the game, you would probably otherwise not do... When the Buckeyes win, its really just the icing on the cake.

See, that's what upsets me about the 'sanitization' of the campus and game atmosphere and tailgating that's going on with Dr. Holbrook's little crackdowns... I understand that they want a safe environment, but I think sometimes they view the Football program as a necessary evil rather than being mindful that thier little policies have real impact on people... Its not whining.. this stuff is a big deal to a lot of folks because of their own personal traditions and time they get to spend with others. When was the last time you saw someone tailgating alone? Never... because even if you come by yourself, you're never alone in Buckeye Nation. I wish the administration would be more mindful of that.

Anyway.. If you want my favorite little moment of each home game... its that moment when the opposing team runs out on the field, but the band is alreay out there in the big square formation... and they bad guys have to run all along the band and all the way around them... you know they would love to pick off the Trumpet guy on the corner... but they can't... they have to run all the way around.

Top 10 things I love about Saturdays in the Horseshoe

10. How bright green the field looks that first moment you enter your section toward your seats.
9. The BDBITL drumbeat as they first enter the stadium ...the drum major's hat touching the turf ...the toss of the baton over the "open end" goal post.
8. The cheerleaders bowing homage in the endzone after scores ...the band guys riding around on shoulders.
7. Stadium tastes: the mustard, there's none like it anywhere else ...stadium hot chocolate on cold days.
6. The PA announcer giving the Slippery Rock score.
5. The first notes of Script Ohio ...the serpentine march ...dotting the i ...the hat-off bow of the tuba player.
4. All the songs, in that unmistakable brass-and-drum sound of TBDBIL ...Buckeye Battle Cry, Fight the Team, Hang on Sloopy
3. The peal of chimes announcing Carmen Ohio ...I always get a lump in the throat at the end of Carmen Ohio "...time and change will surely show; how firm thy friendship, O-hi-o."
2. Bells tolling as you leave the stadium.
1. The thrill of victory, the agony of defeat.

the little boys in the oversized jerseys that hang down to their knees and the little girls in their cute little cheerleader uniforms. seeing the ubridled happiness on their faces makes me want to have kids, so that I can instill that Buckeye Passion in them.

Brent Musburger.

the crowd noise on a key 3rd down in the red zone.
