What is the biggest concern...

I'm just having some fun with you........I agree totally. They do not call that postion "the field general" for nothing.
They way people liked to bitch about Krenzel even after winning the NC, you would've thought his position was the least important on the offense, after all, we won a NC in spite of him, Right?

Rugby, you're right.
The only reason I didn't list QB as our biggest concern is I think Zwick is going to be outstanding. He moves as well, probably better than Krenzel and has a better arm and much quicker release.
I saw him in high school and it was truly like watching a man among boys.
I get the feeling that some fans have such a short memory. Remember, this kid was one of the most highly sought after QB's in the nation coming out of high school. Now many of us talk like he could get beat out by a kid that started one year at QB in high school and had to transfer to do that.
I think the supposed competition between these two are for public consumption only. Zwick will start and be impressive from the get go.

I think the biggest concern here is weather our offensive line can show some improvement, but thier last showing during the Fiesta bowl against K-State did give us some signs of hope after all. Lets hope so Huh? It appears a toss up between Zwick and Smith will settle the score but I hope we don't get into a situation like we did in the 90's with Germaine & Jackson. But after the latest interview with Troy Smith it sure is nice to know what to expect from him weather he starts or not. Thats an admirable quality in such a young man of his character. Alot of people still feel that the jury is still out on line coach Jim Bollman and his sucess.

Speaking of Offensive lines and our biggest concerns. I thought of a good question to spark some interest in this thread. And it is this........... when
was the last time Ohio State a real good or fairly decent offensive line to give us some kind of stability in our efforts to gain another chance for a national championship before Tressels regime came into existence. The one I think of is in the year of 1995 when Eddie George gained honors for the Heisman Trophy. Anybody ???

The '98 OL was at least "fairly decent" imo. Probably more like real good. That team's only weakness was at HC.

Yeah I remember that year and it was a nightmare - especially the Michigan State game, when we thought we had it the bag but somehow we let it slip away and also a good shot at a N/C. I think Mark Dantonio was the Defensive Co-Ordinator for the spartans then right ? It sure was a long ride back from Baymeadows BW3's the night of that game.

Since everone seems to have hit the positions that are cause for concern, I will focus on the intangible. Since it is a young team experience-wise, my biggest concern is the 1st road game at NC State. If this young team can go there and come away with their first road win, the confidence that comes with that will be tremendous.

I've always thought about that too and its a good point to make. If they can get thru Cincy and Marshall with wins at the "shoe'' then the bigget factor will be the one in Winston-Salem N.C. A win there can be a confidence booster more than anything. NC State may not be as strong as last years team but anytime you can win won on the road, it is very major.

RB

poor running will let the D focus more on the QB ....

the run will set up the pass, and the pass will set up the run ....

but the runner has to make a few yards on their own at times .....

I want three yards and a cloud of dust ......

While my biggest concerns are the Offensive line and the Quarterback play, I am starting to get a little concerned about depth at a few positions. Reviewing the depth chart, I am a little nervous that the DE position and the CB position could become a factor with only 1 significant injury. With Frost moving to the offensive side of the ball, I only see Fraser, Kudla, Richardson, and Penton as guys I feel comfortable out there for extended snaps. Also, if one of the big 3 corners gets hurt (Fox, E.J. Underwood, Youboty), and Ginn plays on the offensive side of the ball as well as B. Underwood redshirting to properly heal his dislocated shoulder, who would we have for depth at this position? The depth chart says Harlen Jacobs, a senior who has been passed up by just about everyone who enters the program and has made his mark on special teams. Whitner could be the nickle or dime back covering the slot, but having only 3 corners until O'Neal arrives or Ginn bulks up makes me a little nervous going into the season. Can anyone give me a little insight into these concerns?

I notice Michigan didn't make the possibly over-rated list.... curious.... at least in light of the reasoning Ohio State is listed there... I guess replacing a 3 year starter at QB and a Heisman finalist at RB is no big deal.... (Just to name a couple of spots)
