What song are you listening to right now

You cannot visit the Hotel California because it is not real. You also cannot pet Puff the Magic Dragon because there's no such dragon, and even if there was - it lives in the land Honah Lee which you can find right next door to Hotel California.

And you cannot visit Kokomo off the Florida Keys because there is no such place, despite how convincing the Beach Boys are while describing it. The video for Kokomo was shot at Walt Disney World, because Kokomo was unavailable. Disney isn't a real world, either. It's an elaborate MLM targeting vulnerable parents.

Just sayin': I have visited the next best thing....

a. the land Honah Lee... Hanalei Beach in Kauai, HI which was a "hippie beach" back in the 60s and the inspiration for calling it "the land of Honah Lee".

b. Kokomo...."The Tom Cruise Bar" at Dragon Bay in Port Antonio, Jamaica. It's the filming location in the movie Cocktail that's in the video.

What a Scene! The Amazing Story of Pablo Fanque

pablo-1.jpg

f you’ve heard of Pablo Fanque at all, it’s probably because of the Beatles. In the song Being For the Benefit of Mr Kite, the lyrics, based on an 1843 circus poster that John Lennon bought in a Sevenoaks antique shop, mention that the familial acrobatic troupe known as The Hendersons were ‘late of Pablo Fanque’s Fair’, creating a lasting air of mystery around the name. In actuality, Lennon changed the details of the poster around to rhyme more effectively; it was Mr. Kite himself who was ‘late of Wells’s Circus’ and Fanque was in fact the owner and organiser of the event in Rochdale that the poster was advertising. But who was Pablo Fanque? And why was he any different to any other circus proprietors of his day? Roll up, roll up – for the amazing, probably slightly inaccurate, almost certainly rather exaggerated, story of Mr. Pablo Fanque!
