What song are you listening to right now

Shitty hip hop is everywhere…problem is it is all subjective, like all music.

See, I used to believe that too. However I found this to be the formula to solve many of the "musical problems" I encounter. I.E. acts that just rub me the wrong way that I couldn't figure out why?
(ICP, Godsmack, Disturbed, Tom Mcdonald, Five Finger, Kid Rock, etc etc)

Hollywood Undead - they're a near talentless, douchebag group. The type of group that revels in the (just) despise they receive for their content. Their shit is bland, repetitive, lacks any real musicianship and the lyrics are wrote by a 5th grader. I've never met anyone that wasn't a complete fucking "Kyle" who likes them. Not even kidding, I've combed through my extensive memory bank to think of a single human being that hasn't annoyed me to death whom I remember bumping their tunes.

Said talentless Undead group has their own station on Sirius XM where not only their music, but a host of other insufferable groups also get air time. Why? I haven't the foggiest. Birds of a feather, I suppose?

So when I come across a group that presents themselves as industry, cookie-cutter, cosmetic, douche-bag type hacks, I ask myself this question - "Would they get spin time on the Hollywood Undead station?".
As fate would have it, slated with the timing of our little exchange here, I was beset upon by a co-worker just the blessed time of yesterday morning who felt the need to turn on the Hollywood Undead station.
Why you may ask? Simple answer; he's pretty much a douchebag. Graphic tees, tall can of monster, citrus Copenhagen dips, 5'6 at best and drives a chevy 3500. For everyone one of them that believe they are a stand out and unique individual, I've met seemingly a million more.

Anywho, would ya know it - EVERY. SINGLE. ACT. that I mentioned above, all the way from Five Finger to Tom Clown-ass (needing Eminem's validation but wanting to be Weezy) Mcdonald, was on that channel. I had to stomach that bullshit for 2 fucking hours while knowing that actual talented musicians with substance exist and we could have been listening to them.

Now I'm not saying that every single person who enjoys that music is themselves a douchebag. But I can't help but draw the themes, these parallels if you will, between materialistic purchases, image, attitude, conduct and taste in music. And these things have all, to date, gone hand in hand without exception.

So no, not all music is "subjective". We need to get back to being allowed to shame people for dumb shit.

So when you say something stupid like....

Mos Def never did anything for me.

But then have the audacity to link Tom Mcdonald's grifting ass (just like Aaron Lewis) because "hell yeah, brother he gets it"
Then.... yeah, you deserve EVERY bit of the insult that I will gladly and gently throw over your head.

At least you mentioned KRS and X though, so you're not hopeless.

As for my own addition to this thread and what I'm listening to this morning.

Oh boy. So ICP has literally one good song to listen to when you are angry. Godsmack’s last album was fantastic, you probably didn’t listen to any of it. Disturbed actually has one of the most talented vocalist for range in a lead singer in music…that’s just a fact. You may hate them for whatever reason I can’t even understand, but their early stuff was better than their later stuff IMO. But again……opinions….even yours are subjective (and wrong). Tom McDonald I had not heard of until January of this year….thoroughly enjoying his lyrics as it makes half this country lose their minds.

FFDP - maybe you just hate bands that put out a remake…hence the Disturbed listing. Either way - I’ve literally never met anyone in my life that HATED FFDP other than 60 year olds that are stuck in 1960 folk music land.
Kid Rock - he’s obviously not the artist he was back in the late 90’s, seen him in concert. Always fantastic.
Hollywood Undead - I had never heard of them until last year actually. Apparently have been around for 15 years or something. I love one of their songs…the rest I could care less about. I’ve never seen their station on XM - won’t ever put it on probably…but maybe I will now….haha.

I have many many bands I like 1 or 2 songs from their catalogs.

Case in point - CSNY. My favorite song of all time is Southern Cross. Don’t care what you think, its awesome. However 95% of their other stuff is nothing I would listen to even stranded on a deserted island with only their CD.

FYI - I don’t hate Mos Def….but again - in your world no opinion can exist about music other than yours which is right. Ha. Ha. Ha. I’d rather listen to 50 different hip hop acts before mos def. I just simply don’t care about his music - it does NOTHING for me. It doesn’t mean it sucks, I just don’t listen to it. I don’t find it offensive or anything else….to me…..blah. Just does nothing for me. Give me DMX 500 times out of 500 over him.

I listen to everything from Loreena McKennitt and Blackmore’s Night (I’m sure you have no idea who those two are or would even like them) to DMX to Metallica to Sammy to Zack Brown to Eric Church to Collective Soul, blah blah and on and on. Just depends on the day, the mood, etc.

Like you - a few things are just facts for me:
Today’s rap music sucks ass compared to 80’s/90’s hip hop.
Coldplay is the most overrated pile of rubbish ever.
Two of the the god damn absolute worst shit singers in the world are Bob Dylan and Springsteen. I’d rather listen to Paris Hilton, Rebecca Black and Alvin & the Chipmunks on repeat for all eternity than have to listen to those two irritating clowns that sound like they smoked 40 packs a day for 17 years straight. Yeah, you love them I’m sure….hell I even sang “born in the usa back in in 1985 or whenever the hell it came out…but damn they are hot garbage. But again….its a fact. :) I give two shits how “influential” they are…so don’t even use that crap argument….shit sandwich is a shit sandwich.

Lastly, I just took my wife for her birthday to the James Taylor concert with Jackson Browne opening for him. Jackson Browne was more entertaining to me and I liked his music better. James Taylor can get too folksy for me and that shit is boring af. That said - he might be the nicest dude in music….hung around after the concert, signed a ton of shit for people in the crowds, took pictures….thanked everyone for showing up about a hundred times. Highlight of the whole damn night was those two singing “take it easy” - the eagles song jackson Browne co-wrote with Glenn Frey when they both lived in the same apartment complex apparently. That was a cool encore. (Did see the Eagles before Glenn Frey passed so I was happy about that)

The local boys CAAMP will play to 2 sold-out shows at Express Live to kick off another national tour… but once upon a time they were at Rockmill Brewery recording their first video, and my wife and I happened to be right there, like so much right there that we are in every audience shot.

We both knew right away that we were seeing something special, and it’s been so cool to see them get bigger every time they come back to town. Yip!
