What's the big whoop about Texas

goodguy

I loathe goodguy
With all do respect to Anthony Schlegal and all other Texans, what the hell is the big whoop about Texas. Texans are so damn proud of their statehood. Ok so just because you are born within the lines (borders) created by man, that makes you and all of your fellow Texans the best. Give me a break, this whole proud to be a Texan is overdone and CHEESEY. Santanna and his men kicked your ass, get over yourself

Don't mess with Texas!
Don't worry we won't, we don't want syphilis.

I would like to say that the most desirable female forms I have encounered have been from Tejas.

Now I have sampled the Atlanta, Florida, New Orleans, NY and CA brands also but nothing compares to TX.

God blessed TX!

My sister teaches in Texas, one thing she told me that struck me as odd is that Texas has their own pledge. Each morning before class, after saying the Pledge of Allegeance to the United States Flag, they say a pledge to the Texas flag also...

Well, Texas was once its own country...how many other states can claim this. Also, pride in one's state citizenship is a lot stronger in the South than elsewhere in the country. You'll find the same elitism among Virginians who are quick to distinguish between those who were born Virginians and those who have simply moved to the state.

Finally, this type of state pride used to exist everywhere...especially before the Civil War. Hence why Lee rejected Lincoln's offer to lead the northern forces. Lee said he had a greater loyalty to Virginia than the United States and so sided with the South. If Virginia had not seceded, Lee would have fought for the North.

.....then again, maybe Lee knew Lincoln was gay and had a problem with that. He was from a red state after all.

I wouldn't have any problem with Texas...if it weren't full of Texans....

As for the beauty of Texas Women... I'll agree... of course I did one date a Texan girl... really liked her... for a while... well let's just say... that ended poorly.

Sooooo... as much as I hate to condemn the lot of them based on one bad seed... fuck off.

Texas takes their HS football seriously, that's what the big deal is with Texas players. It's a state with a huge student population and very competitive leagues, and weather wise is like Florida - kids can play all year long (that's not to say that they don't here, but the chances are higher when the weather is better that MORE kids will be playing.. more competition, better results, dig?). That's the big deal with Texas kids.

Don't get me wrong, I am not saying that just cause a kids from Texas he's better. I am saying that kids from Texas can be very very good. Boston and Youboty are a couple recent examples. Adrian Peterson too.

Bottom line, Texas has very good HS programs. They aren't the only state that can boast that. Ohio, Pennsylvania, California, Florida can as well - to name a few. But that's the big deal with Texas.

Can't disagree with your "proud to be a texan" thing, though. Aside from football players I can't think of one good thing Texas has produced (Move this to the poli board if you must  )

Edit: Whoops, thought this was in the Football/Recruiting forum.

Holy shit, I knew Santanna was an awsome musician, but he kicked Texas' ass!!! That accomplishment ranks right up there with General Santa Anna kicking their ass.

Hawii is the only other that comes to mind.

I've been in Texas about four times on business and can honestly say that as a whole I found them to be some of the kindest and warmest people I've ever come across, plus their roads are much nicer than up north.

I don't see anything wrong with any of that Texas pride shit..

I am from Ohio, and I'm proud I am an Ohioan. Fuck anyone who degrades my state, and fuck the state that touches our northern border.

Shit, the only reason Ohio doesn't have it's own pledge of Allegiance is because they couldn't write it without "Fuck Michigan" somewhere in it.
