When does "great offense" equal crappy defense?

Oregon 42
Oklahoma State 31

(Okie State held Texas to 28)

Mississippi 47
Texas Tech 34

(Tech held Texas to 33)

Just sayin'

There really seems to be a major problem stopping good running games. Massoli and the Boys for Oregon were pretty tough as was that little, quick kid from Ole Miss... The more I see the better I feel. I'm not confident, but at least I don't feel crazy to be optimistic

Yeah, after seeing these Big XII teams in the bowls so far, I feel much better about next week. I imagine the Buckeye fans are feeling much better about the Texas matchup, too. I foresee a steady diet of Tebow/Beanie in their futures.

Some of us are more worried about our defense. The lack of quality defense we've played against our big non-conference opponents lately is pretty alarming to me. I'm also not confident that we'll be able to put consistent pressure on McCoy.

I feel like OSU fans have said similar things in the past, regarding feeling confident based on other conference opponents bowl performances.

I think most of us are aware of what has happened the last two years so I don't think it's an abundance of confidence. For me, it's simply bringing to light something I questioned during the season - are these great Big XII offenses THAT good, or are there questions about some of their defenses?

Unfortunately for us, I think Texas' defense is the best in their conference so we'll have our hands full, but I'm not ready to concede defeat to them just yet. I'm willing to give our boys a shot against them if we play well.

Yep, that's the thing that worries me the most. That and their mammoth OL and solid backs, which have given OSU problems in the past. I differentiate UT and to some degree OU from the rest of the B12 along these lines.

They have proven to have crappy defenses in the Bowl games, but also look at their point totals, and you will see there is some incredible offenses in the Big 12. The lowest output so far was 26 by Nebraska, and they are the only ones who scored below 30.

I think the Big 12 was a mixture of both this season.....some very good offenses......and some really crappy Ds.

We might be able to put up more points than we have the rest of the season, but unless we put some pressure on McCoy it won't really matter.

If we "put up more points than we have the rest of the season" I'll take my chances because that would be more than 45 points. :)

I know fans and the media get enamored with points but when does it become more about shitty defense than great offense?
