When does "great offense" equal crappy defense?

Giving up more than 3 TD a game on average is not 'solid'.

They gave up 55, 38 & 48 to the 3 best offenses they faced. (OU, OkSU, BU)

Not awful is different than solid.

When it comes to the Big XII and the PAC 12, the debate never ends.

We've seen this movie before and it always ends the same way.

The voters and the media fall in love with big offense and pay no attention to defense whatsoever.

What is different about this Oregon team than Oregon teams in the past? Nothing.

If for some reason this Oregon team gets to number 2 and plays Bama they will lose and probably lose pretty badly. Bama has the athletes to take away the spread of Oregon and the offense to keep Oregon off the field.

Auburn didn't have a great defense, and shut them down.

our Defense last year toyed with them.
our D-Lineman tossed their undersized O-linemen around, then caught their RB from behind.

we forced them out of their game, and caused them to start making mistakes.

as much as I would hate to see it, Bama would do the same thing.

yes, a mediocre (at best) LSU offense had a good day against Bama.

but we have BIG o-linemen and a physical power run game.
    Oregon has neither of those.

Woody, Bo and Rockne lose their fucking minds watching these basketball games on fake grass. Alex Karras just got up here and that's the first thing he started bitching about. Then, he tried the food. Paradise, my ass.

Two games played at the same time, yesterday: :nerd:

Ohio State 60, Illinois 35 (football)

Ohio State 52, Marquette 35 (basketball)

And yet, OSU is on pace to match the rushing production of Woody's best teams throughout the 70's this year.

Let us remember that, when Ohio State had a stifling defense and okay offense, they criticized Tresselball. Kansas State was supposedly better, due to their weekly shootouts. ?sesra aidem ,won oS

They were also more successful with a solid to weak offense then when the offense was good. Now there's plenty of room to dispute whether they had a strong defense in 06 & 07.

The exciting point is meyer demands both.

The intriguing twist is that he never won without great defense at Florida.

Setting aside the fact that Beano's post was made last season, not last week, I'm not sure it was ever intended to be taken seriously in the first place.

He'll probably check back with Woody, Rockne and Bo to respond at some point.
