When does "great offense" equal crappy defense?

Speaking of the Big XII, Baylor and North Carolina are putting on an epic display in the Russell Athletic Bowl. Baylor, essentially playing without a QB, has over 500 yards rushing and the 3rd quarter isn't over yet. But their defense is making sure Carolina stays in the game.

42-31 in the 3rd, and each team has a turnover inside the 10. Otherwise they'd each have another TD. But you know there are some kids out there just loving this "great offense". :excited:

Two of the poster children for this thread are playing in Tempe tonight, with predictable results.

    Arizona State 37
    Texas Tech 34

    halftime :slappy:

Some will get :excited: about the winner of this shootout only to see the teams combine for double digit losses. That's what happens when you have a good offense and a garbage defense. 7-5 or 6-6, and a lower tier bowl game.

    68-55 final....

IMO, they should fire the DC... Use the money saved from the DC, and buy a real nice player, Cam Newton-style (or any of the stud players that went to Ole Miss the last few players). You don't have to play defense, and you have a big playmaker getting your school more exposure! Win-win!!!

Arizona State allowed 612 yards, 55 points, and won by 13. They play better defense in Arena Football than was played last night in Tempe.

Most of us saw this gem - Pitt 76, Syracuse 61 - but there was another display of "great offense" last Saturday between Middle Tennessee and Florida Atlantic.

    MT 77
    FAU 56

19 touchdowns - even the Arizona Rattlers and Philadelphia Soul couldn't keep up that pace. :roll1:

Oklahoma gave up 854 yards to Texas-fucking-Tech and some people are still trying to vouch for them as a cfp contender. Not to mention tcu, texas, wvu, and of course us running roughshod over their defense. Seriously espn, fuck off with that nonsense

These games may indeed feature ineptitude, but they're undeniably entertaining.

With just under 10 minutes left on the game clock at the Belk Bowl:

    Wake Forest 48
    Texas A&M 45

Already over 1,000 yards gained, over 50 first downs, and on pace to take over 4 hours to play. :excited:

Indeed. They probably should get rid of the linemen and just play 7-on-7 for 4 hours - first team to 100 wins. :excited::roll1:

Wake makes a "stand" in the final 2 minutes to win, 55-52.

On the contrary, Wisconsin 27, Miami 24 in the 4th quarter is far more entertaining. Why? Because there's actually a chance the defense could make a stop, as opposed to some ridiculous garbage where the last team with the ball wins.

The Orange Bowl was indeed a lot of fun, but don't tell me I'm not entertained by a well-executed shootout, because I am.

Texas Tech with another entry in this thread. This time it's vs Houston. Over 1200 yards, 96 points, and it ain't over yet.

Honorable mention goes to the Ole Miss-Southern Illinois circus a week ago - over 1250 yards and 117 points (41 by the FCS Salukis).
